The fish sense something is amiss indeed

It's not enough that you have to come down to Sagolii Dunes every heatwave to see if you can miracle up an Olgoi, but apparently if you fish there often enough, it gives you the "fish sense something amiss" around the ENTIRE PERIMETER of Sagolii Dunes. Um, thanks? I just want to catch my 3rd Olgoi, but I guess SE is more interested in telling me I'm a botter and I can't just move a few yalms in either direction, I need to fish somewhere else entirely. Well, good thing you don't need to fish in that precise spot and only during heatwaves in order to get your Supra tool.

I'm sure glad we ditched spearfishing to make fishing more "relaxed and casual", like grinding fish nonstop for gatherer tools, with no assurance we'll get it in anywhere near the same amount of time as it would take to get a miner or botanist tool. Goodbye 11+ "the fish got away" Olgoi. Maybe that 12th one would have been the one, but you sensed something was amiss. I was close to getting my supra, and you knew that just could not happen. I guess I'll just stop fishing in the middle of this heatwave and you know, come back next heatwave and pray you don't still think I'm botting.

just change area, fish once there, come back to southern thanalan and you can fish again.

but tbh, afk'ing near the spot in between each heat wave is not really needed. Just use that time to refresh the fishing window

The system sometimes does weird things. I was doing the Ixali quests and did the fishing at Dragonhead, followed by the fishing at The Tangle. Only needed about 5 min at each. Next day, went to fish at Dragonhead and the first cast gave me the "amiss" message. That's on the first cast at a new site. Most bizarre. I only had to move over to the other side of the pond for it to go away but the point being that it shouldn't have occurred at all. I think it glitches.

Did you go to the fishing spot, run a dungeon or AFK, and then try to fish? There are two "amiss" timers. One that triggers when fishing in a single fishing hole without switching to another fishing hole (the one the OP is whining about), which is cleared by going to another hole and casting once (you can immediately reel it in, you just have to cast).

The second "amiss" timer, the one that you might be encountering, is one that triggers if you are in a single spot for a length of time and then try to fish. It counts time in a duty toward this, because as far as the server is concerned, you've been sitting on that spot the whole time you were in the duty. This timer is cleared by moving a little and casting somewhere other than the exact spot where you were idling (according to the server).
