Question about PSN and FFXIV

Currently I play on PC. My gf decided she wanted to play ffxiv too she I let her take my ps4 and she bought her own copy of ffxiv and downloaded it onto the ps4 so we could play. She bought ffxiv on my ps4, while logged into my PSN name.

We want to buy an additional ps4 now so we each can have our own ps4 and I can buy a copy of ffxiv and I can swap between ps4 and PC. Can I go back to using my old ps4 and my original psn name and log in to play, and she can have the new ps4 and create her own psn name and continue to play her character? This way she can have her own friends list on psn etc..Or is her account tied directly into my PSN name so she has to be on that PSN name anytime she wants to play ffxiv? Thanks in advance

i think you would need to make another psn account cause it gets linked with the SE account so i assume your GF created n linked n SE account to your psn ?? not 100% sure but i assume thats how it works

The way that the PSN and FFXIV work together is a strange one.

Let's say that your account is BF and her account is GF.

Basically, if you have a code for the PS4 version of the game and you're logged on to the profile "BF", then the code used for your character is on the BF account.

Now, if your girlfriend also registered the game to BF, then she wouldn't be able to play it on her own PS4. She would need to have registered it on "GF."

Now, the only part I can't remember is if the PS4 can work with the same disc or if one FFXIV code per PS4 is required. :/
But I believe that in the scenario you presented above that she wouldn't be able to play on her own PSN account on her own PS4. She would need BF on the new PS4. Basically, you wouldn't be able to play on the PS4 while she was.

Assuming you and your girlfriend are actually both using different Square Enix accounts, you'll need to contact Square Enix to ask them to unlink the account from your PSN (or ask them to relink it directly to hers, I don't know if they'll do that though).

But unless you have the disc version, I'm pretty sure she'd need to purchase the game again because that part will also be tied to your account so there wouldn't be anything for her to actually "run" (and as far as I know Sony won't move games across accounts).

Maybe a workaround would be to get the trial version on her PS4 since the Service Account on the Mogstation will have already had an active serial code applied to it, I don't know if that'll work or not though.

But you definitely need to ask SE to unlink it before you can do anything else anyway.

Yeah we both have our own accounts. The ps4 is mine so when she bought ffxiv she registered my psn and her ffxiv account together. Seems like I will have to contact SE..I figured the easy way to deal with it was just make a new PSN name and anytime I want to play on ps4 I will log onto that name. Just sucks having to do that because I already have an established account on psn and switching back and forth.

We bought the disc version originally on ps3 and then upgraded for free once released for ps4. I bought an additional disc copy for ps3 so I can register my ffxiv account on ps3 and then buy a new ps4 and upgrade before the promo ends gamestop has a good deal going on right now for ps3 > ps4 turn in lol

You honestly should have had her make her own PSN right from the start...not like the cost money and if she ever got into gaming it would be there already.

Don't think SE will unlink the account; so your only option is to make a new PSN for yourself
