Need tanking equipment advice...

My gear currently is at lvl 80. Coming back into the game has made me excited, ready to play, and clueless. I have no idea where to go for new gear. Should I continue with coil or is there a different path to get better gear?
I just transferred from ps3 to ps4 and trying to learn how to use mouse and keyboard to play and when I am solid I want to be competitive again. Thank you for the help!!!

In your case because final coil will become duty finder-able it will be a great chance to collect end game gear, but it will be easier to obtain gear via poetics. If you farm final coil when it gets released on March 30th that will help your gear ilevel, but will require a ton of practice and understanding. relic weaponry is also a great choice to but takes a lot of time to acquire. Shiva provides a nice weapon at ilevel 115.

If it's specific stats you are worried about, it depends on what you want to do. STR based warriors are very hot right now. Determination and accuracy for Paladins who are looking for additional damage for aggro control. Also parry Paladins for damage reduction (Not as popular, but amazing damage midigation for large dungeon pulls.)

I'd say poetic gear is your best bet or World of Darkness gear if you are not in final coil.

Whoa. Putting the cart ahead of the horse a little there. He's i80. He can't even enter ScoB yet. I'd say Poetics gear, Soldiery gear, and WoD gear once his ilevel is high enough to enter that. ST gear also works as a gap filler for now.

People are building Paladins very aggressively right now too. Parry... you have to stack way too much of it for any perceptible change. @OP - don't worry too much about the stats. Just get the gear. You can optimize later.

poetic tomestone (current weekly capped one) gear and the new crystal tower (world of darkness) are easily obtained and theres a weekly quest for all 3 crystal towers that gives the option to upgrade one of either the right or left side poetic pieces from 120 to 130.

It's a weekly repeatable quest that lets you get one carbontwine or carboncoat and one allagan catalyst. You'll need to do all of the Crystal Tower quests starting with the one for Labyrinth of the Ancients.

You can also get carbontwine and carboncoat with allied seals from hunts.

Thank you very much for this information this i\will help me go far for awhile. I am mostly looking for aggro gear i perfer to main tank in runs so even if i have to side tank i can take over really quick.

CT/ST/WOD is teh quest. Just get everything unlocked them pick up the weekly quest.

Technically, you need to complete all 3 to get the quest. If you're item level is 80 then ST and WoD will provide upgrades for you (WoD is still limited to 1 item per week, though this is the last week for that). I would think that the quickest and easiest way to boost your item level will be running WoD repeatedly next week. Since there's only 1 tank per party all tank equipment would be yours by default. Currently ST can provide you with i100 gear without restrictions, and again only 1 tank per party. You can also get an unidentified tomestone to use with 1200 (I think) soldiery tomes to get an i100 weapon (upgradable to i110 from sands of time dropped in ST as well).

Do CT -> ST -> WoD -> weekly -> repeat, then wait 6 more days and grind out WoD until your fingers bleed.
