To be honest, it sounds like you need a welcoming FC that goes along at your pace, or is populated with people that share your type of play style. When you choose to use the Duty Finder, you will be paired up with God knows who - and this is the chance you take.

As someone else had mentioned, if you wanted this kind of experience, you should have started playing when the game initially launched. This is not a stab at you or telling you that you are wrong for starting to play when you did, but this is simply to say that most players would be new at this stage, and people wouldn't be rushing as fast as they do now (obviously). Also as someone else pointed out: MMOs can be kinda top heavy after a period of time. A lot of this game requires you to grind. Grinding for points, items, what have you. Players that are farming soldiery points for example, wouldn't really enjoy taking and hour or an hour and a half to finish a dungeon. Its simply not time efficient for their goal. Consider this, everyone you pair up with in DF may have a different reason for being in that instance than you. Does it make what they are doing, (rushing) while you want to enjoy the story - right? Possibly not, but you also have the option to leave the dungeon or make a preformed party to go at your own pace if you wish. You simply cannot force 7 other people to play as you expect them to.

Someone had also suggested getting or using a keyboard for the PS4 - I would totally second this. Communication is key in any MMO, and as you continue to progress through content, it will be increasing important to you getting stuff done.

ALSO, not all veteran players speed run or rush through everything. I had 3 separate Wanderer's Palace runs today where there was 1 or more people new in my party, in each run. Hell, the last run - all 3 people in the party were new. The discrepancy between our item level was pretty great to say the least (I was healing as WHM) and I had more HP than the tank (or both of the DPS combined). While I knew that this run could take a while, I didn't mind explaining things to the new people I played with today. Am I grinding for my relic items? Yes I am. Have I done 23 runs of WP with no drop? Yes. Would I prefer a 12 minute run? Absolutely. Do I expect this everytime? Of course not.

Not been on Internet long, first MMO game, only found out about it a couple of weeks ago, not on a very populated server so can't find FC that's appropriate,

There is a section in the forums for your server, that's definitely a good place to start. Surely there's a nice FC that would love to have you.

Yet they're being given that soldiery as a reward for helping the new players see that content. That's the entire reason why the soldiery bonuses were added to it in the first place. If someone's goal is to earn that reward, then they'd better be willing to do what they're being rewarded for. Otherwise they don't belong there.

SE could have implemented it a lot better if they'd made the reward more specifically tied to the content. Skip a cutscene or leave behind someone who's watching a cutscene and you lose out on getting any completion rewards for the run. As often seems to happen, however, SE had a bit too much faith in players not being jerks. They trusted that when you're getting rewarded for helping someone that you'd actually help them.

I was generalizing and was not specifically referring to a run that rewarded bonus soldiery. While I do see your point, it has been brought up numerous times before. Way before this thread even existed. My post was really just saying "joining the DF is a roll of the dice" as you never know who you will be paired up with, or what their intentions or goals are.

Also, you do not know ahead of time that you will be paired up with a new player. So you are entering DF blind - not knowing if you will get a bonus. It's not fair to say that players being rewarded for helping new players SEE content - they just so happen to be paired together due to DF.

Not long ago, we didn't have bonuses for new players and they would get harassed because of gear or low DPS - whatever. There used to be threads about it all the time. A great way to encourage "seasoned" players to play with new players and actually play older content was the introduction of this bonus.

But there are no rewards in a lot of the dungeons that are tied to the story, so this would be useless unfortunately. I doubt that they would nerf soldiery like this too.
