_A Block Permanently in Chat Window

I don't know how I did it but the text that tells you what chat group you are sending to such as "Free Company", "Say", and "LS#1..." ended up getting a block icon with _A in front of every of the previous mentioned chat groups.

Any insight what the block signifies and better yet how to remove it is appreciated.

That comes from Microsoft IME (Input Method Editor), it changes the keyboard's country setting, allowing you to write Japanese and such with a non-local keyboard. Try hitting alt-shift a few times until it goes away and your keyboard types what you want it to.

I tried a few rounds of Shift+Alt to no avail.

Yeah, it signals you have the IME activated. Like, for instance, I've changed my IME activation settings to CTRL+ALT to switch to Japanese keyboard, then to ALT+~ to get the hiragana keyboard activated. (I just have it cycle through latin text and hiragana).

You'll have to find out what your own settings for the IME are. It should be under "Keyboard".

Thanks for the help. I went into Windows 8 and the only language i had on was English. I checked to see if keybinds changed and they didnt. It shows that Hot keys for input languages are Left Alt + SHift between languages and that to english is none. Switching Keyboard layout is Ctrl + Shift. (not sure this applies). So icon block still there

Huh, weird.... it may be a Windows 8 thing; I'm running Windows 7.

Restarting computer did the trick along with changing the settings for languages in Windows 8 thanks guys
