Trust me as a Paladin, when you finally figure out the ease of targeting with a controller you can split your rotation over 3 or more enemies if you must without a problem. And as a healer you can quickly pick an alternate party member to the one you keep targeted (tank) to receive a heal or other spell. Controller targeting is at least as easy and accurate as mouse keyboard. I'd contend that it's possibly quicker and easier to play on a controller than on mouse/keyboard.
While I will agree that controller targetting is fantastic in this, to say it could be more precise/quicker and easier than a mouse is just something I can't agree on I guess.

You just stated the process which is press L1/R1 and cycle through or hold L1 and press up and down and cycle through and I think ultimately that is the point, you have to cycle. I make one single click on a mouse, that I can move over the mob/enmity list within a split second and it is done.

I play on my PS4 from time to time and I agree the controller is very very good in this game and doesn't put you at a disadvantage by any means, but I just cannot agree that it's more precise than a mouse, as for hotkeys and keybards vs crossbars, an arguement could be made for both, it's what is comfortable for you. Personally I like being able to switch my bindings on the keyboard to give me everything I need, but that's from years of playing MMO's. I also have a Razer Naga which makes it absolutely amazing and far better than a controller imo.

The counter point for your argument and any others against controllers me would have to be "so what."

I play on a pc using an xbox 360 controller. I've defeated T13, and I'm working on Savage T7 now. It doesn't really mater if I have to cycle enemies or any other weakness of the controller because I can still complete and actively challenge the hardest content in the game and still come out victorious.

    It literally doesn't matter.

Feel free to re-read the other part of my post where I specifically stated it does NOT put you at a disadvantage by any means, it may not be as precise, but you are by no means a lesser player or unable to clear content for using one and I never ever implied that.

Nor was I ever against controllers. I like it when I want to chill out on the PS4 and lay on the sofa while playing instead of being sat at the PC.

This is the only MMO that I play with a controller and I play better with it than the keyboard.

I used both controller/Key Board for my set up for healing it works for me on how I use macro's etc. like basic /ac "Physic" <1> for example with pet heals also included, for most part commands like sic, obey is key bind to hot bars on my keyboard. I maximize the function of the controller to focus on heals/succor/leech etc., and not taking up crossbar space for buffs like protect/stoneskin that is also on my hotbar. When I think about it if I ever go to a fan fest and how I have my setup currently compare to what SE setup im going to suck in that situation tbh lol.

Also I would love to see a pet command like /petstopcast so it force pet to cancel casting and make it cast a different spell on the fly the switching to steady to obey vs is annoying imo...

Controller works really well once you've done a bit of setup to configure it (using the extended crossbar, setting up targeting filters, arranging all your skills to suit the button locations, etc.) Though I haven't played KB/M on this particular game, I expect it's the same way in that it works great after you configure it to suit yourself. Though part of the reason people are more comfortable with whichever they started with is indeed just familiarity, I suspect that part of also comes from comparing a platform they've already tweaked and configured for optimal gameplay with a new system that's still set to its initial defaults.

I think it all depends on the person, I use Orbweaver and Naga, can't imagine ever being able to swap them out for a controller, every time I try i just end up frustrated by the lack of buttons.

I played FF 11 for 6 years on PS2 so it was just natural to play it on PS4. (Using controllers)

Tedious is a million different buttons and different binds. The controller keeps it simple and puts more buttons within the natural range of motion of my fingers. I'm quite happy to play with a controller.
