Just as the title suggests: Will the Achievement Points System have meaning in Heavensward?

Currently, the points do not do anything and don't have purpose. Only the rewards off the actual individual achievements matter.

Will this be updated with the expansion?

Achievement points have always been just for show off. If you don't find meaning in that, then...congratulations?

Achievement data are private by default on the LodeStone. If you want to show off your achievements, you need to make them public for other people to see it.

I think the OP means like after you hit a certain milestone of accumulative points 1000,2000,3000 etc it acts as its own achievement in which a small vanity reward is given, like you get from many achievements much like the commendation ones.

I too would like to see something like this and see more people doing random things for achievements because they want a bit of glamour, a Title, a pet or even a mount.

No. People need to stop expecting to be pat on the back for every little thing they do. Achievements have always been arbitrary and pointless.
