SSD FPS load times, suggestions slightly new....

    Hello All,

I recently started playing FFXIV, very fun game but very very laggy and slow and the zone load times are gawd awful example: Game loading: 1min 12 sec
zone to zone: 32sec to 58sec

my current fps float 8~13 and I have everything set low.

I went out and picked one up 60gigs 6gbps SSD nothing fancy literally got just for this game.

I formarted ( quick ) and uninstalled the game, then reinstalled onto this SSD and dealt with the hour long update... hurray. load times are still 32~58sec

I have a Radeon 6450 2gb graphics card. And I hate to say this but..... I get better fps by taking this out of my system and using the onboard chipset.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
    Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
    System Model CM6630_CM6730_CM6830.
    System Type x64-based PC
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220T CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2800 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB

    Thanks for reading and posting!

That's a really low budget card. You're getting what you should expect from it.

I have a [Radeon 6450 2gb graphics card] this GPU is why your getting very low fps
    RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
    OS: Windows® 7 64 bit
    CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 2.66GHz
    Memory: 4GB
Available space on hard disk/SSD: 30GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660 or higher, AMD Radeon™ HD 7950 or higher
    Screen Resolution: 1920x1080
Internet: Persistent broadband internet connection required
Sound Card: DirectSound® compatible sound card (DirectX® 9.0c or higher)
    DirectX®: DirectX® 9.0c or higher
these are the minimum system requirements your GPU falls very short of whats the min required.

Unfortunately that video card falls well below the required (not even recommended) systems specs for FFXIV:ARR. The system requirements state Radeon HD 4770 or better. A such, the also not terribly good onboard video processing is better suited for the game.

Your RAM should be fine, the new SSD you bought really will make the game load faster, your processor might be ok, but probably borderline, but that video card, as you've experienced, is doing less than nothing.

    windows 7 pro, i7 920 2.67 ghz
    250gb ssd
64 bit os 6 gb ram
amd radeon r7 200 series gpu

with this system which still is not the best i get 60fps with no issues its all about your GPU in your case has nothing to do with the rest of your system

You should have asked before buying SSD.
It seems to me that it is time to buy a new pc.. or atleast a card.

sorry i used teh recommended system requirements as teh low end of the stick not the minimum though teh RECOMMENDED should actually be the minimum cause with a game such as this which is being talked about going to be using the direct 11 the minimum end will jsut not cut it

i do agree with strejda tom in regards to your ssd a 60 gb ssd barely fits the game with the os you will be unable to load teh new expansion onto that ssd due to in-sufficient space. dont really need new computer but should have thought ahead before buying that tiny ssd hd

From my personal experience; Load times will definitely stagger if your graphics card and CPU are not up to speed. In your case, both of them are very poor to run this game smoothly.

To put it in perspective, I have a 970 SSC geforce. I used to have a G3258 Dual-Core 3.2GHz for my processor ,along with a 250gb SSD. The processor alone was bottle necking my overall performance because it could not render character models fast enough. My sound got delayed, my animations were delayed, my frames dropped and my load times were staggered when it came to hunts and player-dense cities. I ultimately resolved this issue by upgrading my processor to an i7. That removed my bottle neck and load times are near seemless even when it comes to more doughnuts, and my game runs at a constant 60 on max settings.

Your intergrated GPU is probably already better than the video card you're using, 60gb is hardly enough for this gmae (expect another 20gb when heavensward comes out), and your processor is barely up to snuff.

tl;dr : Even with a SSD, your graphics card and processor is bottle necking your overall performance, and therefore load time.

I tried to put a lot more details in but I'm limited to 1,000 keys, so bear wiff..... the card i purchase was for 11 which... obviously not playing anymore and some suggestions would rock.
Also the 60gig ssd is just for the game, OS ect is on the hdd, is this still not satisfactory? FFXIV is 14 gigs atm and nothing else.
