    Some Newb Questions

So i reached today to level 10 with my lancer and i have a few questions to ask:
1- Can i reallocate my skill points? Or should i follow a guide to see where i put them (lancer class).

2- Should i worry with gathering and crafting at this moment? At least i think i should do gathering but i have no idea how to proceed,

3- Since i am going for a dragoon, how can i lever the other class to level 15 (can´t remember the name)? And when should i level it? I was thinking maybe after hitting level 30.

4- When and where should i upgrade my equipement? I got mine until now from quests but i think that won´t last long.

5- Is there any guild/free company that accepts new players and lends them a hand?

    Thanks in advance!

Yep you can reallocate them with an item sold in your GC's seal shop... you won't be able to for a long time, by the looks of it. Don't worry about if you've messed up though. Also to know all classes have their own stat allocation, so you don't need to worry about if you switch to a conjurer, for instance.

If you want. It's not required but you can make some good money if you do gathering and get it to high level. Same with crafting, however if you want to make serious money you need all crafters to level fifty. For a good gathering class I'd recommend miner, those ores are a good source of income for lazy people (like me...I'm like, "I could mine that...........meh" and then just buy it off the marketboard).

I'd do it as soon as you hit thirty on lancer. The class you are thinking is Marauder. There will be class quests again, so just do those. And since it is in a new area (Limsa Lominsa) I would go ahead and save those sidequests in that area for when you're leveling the tank. Also do all FATEs you see, and try out leves if you have them unlocked. I think the first fifteen in any class is so boring...just gotta get through it (because at fifteen you can go into dungeons. I like dungeons.)

You should be getting equipment from a lot of classes but if you find yourself outgrowing it, a good rule of thumb is "every five levels", give or take a level for some stuff. So at level fifteen you can check the marketboard or a shop for higher level equipment. I see it is usually every five levels though.

I see you're on Lich, the Best Server. If you'd like, let me know next time you play and my FC can help you out
I'm going to be playing for a while, so you can /tell me in game if you want. I'll get it unless I'm in a duty.

Heya Always nice to see a person who plays on the same server. If you need a hand just look me up My character's name is Aurora Avalon.
FC I'm in is very social and we're always helpful. Pretty sure I can get one of the officers to invite you

For Dragoon your second class requirement is Marauder. AskaRay already explained a good way to level that class. I would like to add one more thing to the list. Once your character becomes a Dragoon you can also use skills from the Pugilist class. And they have some very useful skills that you can make use of. And since Pugilist starts out in Ul'dah. You can level that one up very similar to Marauder

You can Re-allocate stat points for 250 Grand Company Seals. You join a Grand company around main story level 20 (that's not character level just to be clear). Mostly that's around level 25 if you just focus on one class. Grand Company seals are very easy to get later in the game, so you can easily play around with the stats a bit.

At around Main quest level 15 you can switch classes. You switch classes by simply equipping a different main hand weapon. Some people like crafting, some like gathering. There isn't really a good or bad time to start. Having crafting classes early though means you can make your own equipment which can help quite a bit.

See Answer 2. Simply equip a weapon from a different class. You must have gone to the appropriate guild first though to unlock it. Unlocking it takes 30 seconds though

Quests, Crafting, Dungeons. Dungeons and HQ crafting usually gives the best equipment for your level.

For levelling up quickly, I ground away at the leves. Once you get to level 10 in any class, the leves at Horizon (lv10) are by far the quickest and easiest, you only need to go just outside the gates and if you're efficient with skills, each will only take a couple of minutes.

I ran from level 8 to level 15 with my archer in about 45 minutes, same with ACN and I'll be doing the same on my CNJ tonight.

Fates are an amazing source of EXP, even if you only catch the end, it's worth joining in for the exp!

Each class has their own hunting log, doing all of those plus the first couple of class quests will probably get you to 10 easily enough, then you can start work on the next batch of hunt log entries, do the available guildhests once each for the completion bonus, and just bash out some FATEs or levequests to get you the rest of the way to 15.

Also, you get a 50% XP bonus for any classes that are lower than your highest-level one, and you get bonus XP on guildhests for the first time completion on each class, so it's pretty quick to get new classes to 15 for the sake of meeting job requirements.

As others have mentioned, you can reallocate them by getting an item (it's called The Keeper’s Hymn) from your Grand Company. But for Lancer, just go with allocating them all to Strength. Each class gets their own set of attribute points, so for instance if you wanted to add Conjurer, you could have all your LNC points in Strength and still be able to put all your CNJ points in Mind, and so on. Most classes are fairly straightforward that it's best to put them all towards your main stat.

Arcanist is the exception, because it splits into two different specializations once jobs are unlocked. An ACN can become a Summoner (main stat Intelligence) or a Scholar (main stat Mind) or both. But since the stat points are by class rather than job, SMN and SCH have to share the ACN stat points, leaving people to decide which of their jobs' main stats to allocate those points towards. Alternating decisions here is probably the biggest use of that Keepers Hymn reallocation item.

If you're interested in it, it's worth at least trying out. The Botanist guild for gathering and the Leatherworker and Carpenter guilds for crafting are there in Gridania, so you can start off with those. Once you reach the other cities, there will be more crafting and gathering classes to start. Whether you want to do that now or wait until later is a matter of personal preference. Some players are in a hurry to get their first class to endgame, so they put off everything else, like crafting and gathering. Others are more interested in trying everything, so start all the classes (or at least each type of class) as soon as they're available. Getting going on crafting early allows you to make your own equipment, which is nice, but it would take time away from leveling your Lancer/Dragoon.

The ability to add additional classes is unlocked when you complete the level 10 class quest from your original class's guild hall, but then each additional class you want to add has to be individually unlocked from a quest at that class's guild hall. The Marauder guild is in Limsa Lominsa, so you'll need to wait until you unlock airship travel to get there. (Airship travel, and with it access to Limsa Lominsa and the guilds there, is unlocked by a level 15 Main Scenario Quest.)

So starting Marauder will have to wait until at least level 15. You can go ahead and wait until you reach 30 as Lancer if you want, or you can start it earlier, but I wouldn't put it off much later. Once you get much past 30, people will expect you to be on your Job (Dragoon in this case) rather than base class (Lancer).

Quests will continue to give some good basic gear. Better gear will come from either dungeons (which start at level 15) or from crafting if the crafting results in a High Quality (HQ) item. The crafted stuff you can either craft yourself if you choose to get into that aspect of the game, or you can buy it from other players through the Market Board. NPC vendors also offer basic gear for sale (the same sort of stuff you can get from quests or from the Normal Quality (NQ) results from crafting).
