Looking to level a paladin but was wondering how does one keep hate till 40?

Title says it all. I am looking to level a tank class never played one yet and I like the fact the pally has more survivability, at least I think so anyways lol. So how does one keep hate till post 40? And is pally way to go as my first tank or should I level warrior?

At first, leveling up I found it somewhat difficult, but that was more from inexperience then anything. Since I've played pld for a bit and doing low level roulette for tomes I find that that problem has pretty much gone away. If you find you are having trouble try marking at least your first target, flash often, go through your combo rotation and as a mob gets close to dying, switch to the next target to start building up hate.

Flash 2-3 times per pull. If you're still losing hate, flash more. And keep your gear top-notch, especially weapon; flash enmity scales off it. (Would be nice for new players if they were to add this to the tooltip)

In order to keep hate until Level 40 what you need to do is spam FATES until level 40. Then you can do dungeons. j/k

But yeah, like Alistaire says, keep your weapon up to date, always. A good option for that is to get them from your Grand Company or have someone craft you HQ versions.

Other than that -> Sword Oath -> Fight or Flight -> Flash lots -> Tab through mobs splitting your ROH combo in order to keep all mobs under control. Put your Bonus points in STR and use Vitality Accessories.

Both tanks can hold hate really easy but warrior is a bit easier on early lvls. Only thing to do about it as a pala marking the mobs go with the order u chose and its gg.

About class u wanna chose its up to your play style. Pala is like a turtle slow but safe. On warrior its kinda complicated since u dont have that much def skills as pala. Warrior is more like learing how to yolo headbutting bosses only thing u need is timing and buff control thats it you are good to go. But if didnt finished the content up yet warrior is harder coz it needs knowledge of attacks on bosses when u need to cast buffs or to use ur attacks gives u life and def etc. Still both classes are fun to play. I like the yolo part mostly so i chosed warrior in my case if u wanna go as a safe mode take pala :3

Swap targets during your enmity combo.

    all the above posts.

Shield Lob > flash > fast blade > flash > rage (if you have it) > flash

That is usually enough to get you through the first part of it. Switch targets and Mark.

Cannot stress this enough..... Mark you targets. New DPS will inherently fight two different mobs to see who can kill faster.

It was mentioned before as a joke but honestly...

If you're tired of level sync'd DPS not following your marks or even hitting the same target, healers that either spam cure on CD or don't cure at all, or just want a break from all the stress of dungeon runs...

PLD does very well in FATEs.

One thing that can help with dungeon runs in buddying up with people in your FCs/LSs. A lot of people leveling a DPS job will gladly take the shorter queue times, and although they tend to hit hard, they have enough consideration for you that they will actually follow marked targets. YMMV of course, but FATEs between preformed parties kept me sane for it XD.

Flash until you can't flash no more on 3+ mob packs, then Riot Blade until you're full mana.

On bosses you should be able to keep hate with your regular 1-2-3 combo. Use fight or flight right before your first RoH if it's still really close on threat.

And as stated before, keep your sword as up-to-date as much as you can afford.
