this ^ i want the mounts but a 2 hour queue just for a loss doesnt encourage me to queue alot kinda given up hope of ever obtaining them ._.
I don't think anyones saying that PvP should take away players from main content, or that it should take a front seat to said content lol. I mean, a large amount of dungeons are essentially side content (made mandatory if you want to use the roulette), not to mention that after your first run... you're likely not going to care about nearly any instance you do besides the benefit from the grind, so that might be something to keep in mind lol. But it's more about just making the content attractive to do in general is all. Imagine if Chocobo racing required a full party of players to race at any time (no NPCs to use), the side content of racing would be dead. While a lot of folks wouldn't care at this point, some do... and that's kind of what you see in this thread. It's a fun side event to do, but unlike the easy fix with Chocobo Racing, you can't exactly do PvP without the other P lol.My opinion on the matter may be a little biased because I don't like to PvP and never will, but...
PvP in this game is essentially a minigame, much like it was in FFXI. The game itself is the storyline and the things you do in your Eorzean travels. Your trials with the primals or Midgardsormr, as well as your struggles against the Empire. Final Fantasy games have always been story first, minigames galore as a distraction/something extra to do. PvP should not (As it is currently) be a primary part of the game. The struggle in Carteneu is all well and good, but, which makes it a really great minigame, but not a central part of the story. In my opinion this is how it should be.HTML Code:
it's been proven to be a diversion by unscrupulous members of the Uldahnian elite to distract adventurers and leaders alike in a bid to simply make more money
TL;DR : Want more PvP? Should probably play a game with PvP as a central theme.

I wish they'd give me more Wolf Marks. As far as GC restrictions I like carving up my friends if they dont want those problems they need to come to Maelstrom lol
I agree they need to remove the GC teams and just make new name for the three, so everybody can join whoever.
And yes, they could do alot of weird things with pvp. But alas, not very prioritized. I like pvp T_T
Simply adding more rewards and glamours to PVP will accomplish nothing. There are already unique glamours and mounts. Even adding the ADS mount to PVP did not increase queue times. A good, healthy PVP community cannot be built with rewards alone. This is true in every game. If the only driving force is rewards, people will either a) play it until they get the reward, then quit or b) play it long enough to realize they'll never get the reward, then quit.
PVP has to be fun, first and foremost. The best PVP games are the ones where you'd PVP even if there were no rewards at all, because it's just that much fun. I know a few people who do enjoy PVP in this game, but I find most often it's because they've never PVPed in any other MMO. Go PVP in WoW, SWTOR, Guild Wars, etc and then try to come back to this game. It's impossible not to see all the ways it's lacking. And no, I'm not just talking about the queue times. Even if queues were instant, PVP would still be a mere shadow of what those other games offer.

This is the first MMO I have played where its primary focus hasn't been PVP & I for one think it excels because of it. Once PVP becomes a primary feature of an MMO, suddenly you will have thousands of players coming to the boards demanding (x) class needs to be nerfed because it is overpowered which then indirectly impacts said classes PVE effectiveness. Once said class is nerfed then they too will demand another class be nerfed & it becomes a never ending death spiral until everyone is unhappy. Additionally...the more work Square Enix puts into PVP, the less work they will be able to put into other aspects of the game. With so many other games that offer hardcore PVP I believe it would be folly to try & integrate it now unless they plan doubling the size of development team & attempting to make something better than GW2's WvW.
PVP exp is definitely too slow if you're trying to do it legitimately - also shorter matches with random game types would be fun.
I feel like SE added PVP as an afterthought and figured they could just expand on it if the demand ends up being high enough. But I see casual and hardcore PVE content being the main player focus so SE likely still has PVP on the backburner. But who knows what 3.0 will bring.
Let me play with friends, then I will do PvP. Simple. People want to fight with their friends, not with random people who pick the same GC as you. SE failed on this part and they know they did. If they just made it simple PvP with who you want to fight within Frontlines it would be awesome but nope.
I like this game, and I like PvP from time to time.
And, as a pld, I very much like to be able to glamour that gold Lion type armor you can get on PvP.
I already have bought the full armor...but I don't have the rank to wear it yet (and no, you can't glamour something you can't wear).
I'm rank 29 but It's quite hard to rank-up due to the enormous queue on PvP.
TL;DR : no I don't want to play another PvP game. I want to play FFXIV, but I would like to have faster queue and PvP when/if I feel like doing it.
sorry for my English, not my first language.
