You know i find it sad that it's 2015 and there still issue with space. I got so tired of hearing that in FFXI oh we can't add new looking WS due to space issue. We can't do this due to ps2 limitations or this due to ps2 and so on.
I was really hoping that ARR and yoshi-p would have think ahead to make sure this type of limitation would have not happen. A simple thing as adding text would take too much space. While this issue does not effect me at all it just sad they can't do it for players that does effect them.

Considering all consoles are being phased out of XI... that should no longer be an issue.
I already upgraded from PS3 to PS4 so no issues on my partAlso, Yoshi has already stated that while this next expansion would go to the PS3 that the PS3's future expansions has not been decided yet. IMO, FFXIV should have never been pushed to the PS3 (though I still bought my copy) It is far inferior to the PS4 version.
actually they have already stated in the past they are currently pushing the limits for ram usage on the PS4 too. sony need to get their act together and clean some shit up to free up more RAM for games. the graphical capabilities are amazing when you compare it to the PS3. but sadly, RAM capabilities are only slightly higher. many dev's are actually quite disappointed. i am too, being a PS4 owner. :/
An idea could be to add a "Current fight" category to the dictionnary, that is automatically updated to reflect current fight attack names and maybe more.
I fully agree with this.
I was doing the latest patch content and I quickly figured out the mechanics for the boss. I play on JP server so I tried a few times to communicate the need to do certain things.... before I realized that the ENGLISH NAME WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE JAPANESE NAME which explained why they were all clueless.
Maybe, at the least, when we're in a raid/trial, there could just be an additional auto-translate category to access that is just for the important things of the encounter. It's pretty annoying when there are so many unexpected differences between the names of different languages.
I see 2 problems with the autotranslate:
1. Very limited number of words. As you say this is a limit of the system, then you need to improve this system. This is not 1980. This is 2015 and an Input Method on the PC easily handles tens of thousands of entries in just one language. All it means is that you designed the system to have a very limited capacity. "We're not going to need that many entries anyway." This is something that can and should be improved if you ever want to make the auto-translate more than a pair of pretty curly brackets that sometimes pop up in the chat.
2. Very limited matching ability. It only matches from the first letter/word and doesn't do partial matches. Typing "blade" and activating auto-translate will not match "Savage Blade", "Fast Blade", "Riot Blade". That is not intuitive. It effectively means we have know exactly what we are looking for before we can use it, which translates to learning the entries off by heart.
If you could only improve on these two aspects of the system, you make the auto-translate ten times more useful if not more.
