New and not - Server/group search!

I purchased FFXIV after playing the beta for a few hours and, though I enjoyed the game, most of the people I knew who got it hated the game and quit. I lost interest and quit as well until Spring of this year. I came back to see how the new FFXIV Team was doing, and though the game was definitely improving, I still wanted to wait until the class and combat overhaul patch had been released. The current build of the game looks like I'll enjoy it more.

All that said, I would like some suggestions for which server to join and perhaps a group to get in before I make my new character this weekend. I am Eastern Standard Time, will likely only be able to play much on the weekends unless I luck out with an easier schedule, and already run a multi-gaming clan on my own so I have virtually no interest in joining a group with a strong activity policy. I'm looking for more of a social group of friendly players who party together and schedule some events around my time zone.
