New: Gifting now an option on Mogstation!

    As the title says:

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/

Gifting is now available on the Mogstation via paid "gift" codes.

I think this is pretty neat! I've wanted this for a while.

I just hope we don't see an influx of "Selling Sleipnir code for 1000M"

    Thoughts?

Well them adding a big " * The use of gift codes for any activity relating to, or suggesting the trade of real-world money, in-game currency, or in-game virtual items is strictly prohibited." notice right on the front page makes it seem like a bad idea to try and sell the gift codes.

I reckon this is their reaction to how the whole wedding bracelet situation turned out.

Too bad that's what you'll see. This is basically a legalized RMT, but SE gets the money instead, so it's not a 3rd party getting profit from it. The plus side is this will give more people the option to get shop items just by farming the game (and others spending money duh), the downside might be people getting rich with no effort and inflating prices.

    Edit:

I wonder how are they gonna handle this though. Are they gonna check everyone who gifts? :]

Whilst the disclaimer will deter some people, it won't stop people from doing it altogether! There's no way you can really track it especially if they arrange the stuff outside of the game and then just have one person send gil to another...people will find a way which is sad D:

I think it means they'll give a warning to anyone who shouts in game offering to sell the codes.

Probably can't do anything if you handle your transactions on Facebook or what have you, though.

Well, it'll largely be on whether or not players report them for it if they see it in shout / PF I imagine, which is the vast majority of where the wedding bracelet business has been openly going on. When arranged outside of game I doubt anything will ever happen to avoid it, but thats also a minority of the sales in the first place, unless a larger trading community forms as a direct result, which I suppose isn't entirely unheard of happening, to be fair.

It looks like SE is losing experience within "MMO development field" instead of gaining it...

That, or someone up there is being insanely greedy.

Well, if you've been gifting to 30 people within the first week of the service going active, and all 30 of these people are not on your friend list, nor in the same FC, nor in the same LS, it's probably safe to say you are engaged in suspicious activity. To make it a business, you'd probably be "gifting" hundreds away...

People complained about gifting so they give. Now those rich souks can pay for their whole wedding I guess.

    Cash shop...smh
