This is true of anything you macro, and is the major danger of using macros. The big thing to remember if you decide to macro anything is that you lose the queueing effect that would give you some leeway on activating things.

To explain what that is, everything in the game can be considered to have a 'lockout' - for instance, you can't start casting another spell or blow a cooldown when you're busy casting something already, and the same goes for cooldowns like Virus or Benediction - they have an animation that plays, and you can't trigger another spell or cooldown until that's done. When you don't macro, trying to do another action during this 'lockout' time queues that action, so that it triggers immediately afterwards. If it takes 3 seconds to cast Stoneskin and you hit Divine Seal 2.5 seconds into the cast, well, Divine Seal can't go off right away because you're busy. But, Divine Seal will actually go off half a second later, when the spell is done, because it's been queued to occur. Macro actions cannot queue - so if you're in the middle of any animation whatsoever, the action simply won't go off.
