    Secrets of the Twelve

So I don't know what made me look at the Twelve, but I re-noticed something that seems odd, two somethings.

    1. The Twelve are a collection of "people" revered as gods around Eorzea, and they have interpersonal relationaships as well, and some are parents of others. But here is something odd. Thaliak is the father of Llymlaen, and Azeyma is the mother of Nophica. But Llymlaen and Nophica are sisters, shouldn't they share a parent. The parents given are of opposite genders, strongly hinting that the two siblings are full blooded, not half blooded. But no where in any one of the four descriptions of these dieties does it mention the extra parent or child.

    2. The Twelve are revered as gods, but Nald'Thal is revered as his seperate forms? The lore states that he is the single embodiment of the Twins, which is fine, but he isn't the one being revered his embodiments are. When ever you speak to someone in Ul'dah, they always mention either Nald or Thal, never Nald'Thal as an individual. But who were Nald and Thal? And if they were gods as well wouldn't they predate the Twelve? I know we hear a little, emphasis on little, about them in the story, but what is their greater connection to the story? Even Gemini has a back story.

We talked a bit about this back when I made this chart, I don't think we ever got beyond "Well, it's Greek-based and vague. I think they meant it to be."

The best I can do to explain this one is think Gemini. Nald and Thal are two aspects of a singular deity. When you see people discussing one aspect or the other, they're still following the Order of Nald'thal and its teachings.

Always open to more discussion on these, though. They put a lot of work into this pantheon.

when it comes to nald'thal I guess we can kinda use Selene/Eos as an example. Both are different aspects of one being: the fairy

Your chart, if it's the one I see on other sites, is a very accurate one, though I did see another one the forum listing you gave me, that shows Thaliak and Azeyma as Llymlaen and Nophica parents, whether they are lovers or it was a one, two night stand, remains to be seen.

While I agree Nald'Thal is based somewhat on Gemini, even Gemini had a backstory. Although, Gemini is still two seperate people. And while, when people praise one aspect or the other, it still begs the question who these two once were. The lore itself says they were two separate people. I doubt its meant to be this vague, not even regular mythology is that vague, unproven sure, but vague not really. And by vague I mean no info at all, most mythologies have a plethora of information, though the tellings are usually different.

I don't think this is accurate, since with the fairy it's like a split personality, or dual stances. But in the lore, Nald and Thal are clearly stated to have been two seperate entities.

UPDATE: Actually, I think I figured out what the issue is with Nald'Thal is, if you look at this image, which was also posted on the forum link you gave me. But I found it on the FF wikia.

I think the "Twelve" are actually the "Thirteen". While I will admit SE states that Nald'Thal is a representation of twins, I think, and I hope others have as well, that most people thought he was a single entity that represented twins reborn, not a name that represented two seperate people. I mean its the TWELVE, why would we think of Nald'Thal as anything but one person. Most information makes them out to be one person, the fact that he is two and worshiped or talked about as one makes sense. In that way they are exactly like Gemini.

Also, this image shows that Thaliak and Azeyma are lovers.
