Stats mean absolutely nothing beyond satisfying minimum requirements on green tier fish.

Fixed that for you. Legendary fish are MEANT to be difficult to catch, so they all have a level of RNG.

...but due to the sheer volume of fish to catch, by the time you finish one of each 112 fish, probability is very high that you have spent the same cumulative time as the next person doing the same grind.

You gain more stats to catch more difficult fish. No more than 408 is presently needed for even the most difficult marks.
