    Positional skills

    I wish Paladin & Warrior had tools that let them cover ground quickly or create space; its really annoying when you're chasing someone around because they're too stupid to stop and let you pull a mob off them or when something is positioned badly and you wish you could knock it back a few steps.


    Examples of positional combat functions already in-game:

    Distance Closers

    Monk: Shoulder Tackle - rushes target; damage & stuns.

    Dragoon: Spine Shatter & Dragon Fire Dives - jumping attack; damage & stuns.

    Ninja: Shukuchi - move rapidly to the specified location.

    Black Mage: Aetherial Manipulation - move rapidly to the specified party member.

    Distance Openers

    Bard: Repelling Shot - leap away from the target; damages target.

    Dragoon: Elusive Jump - jump backwards; removes Bind & Heavy.

    White Mage: Fluid Aura - knocks the target backwards; binds target.


    So as an example something along the lines of;

    Warrior: Raging Rush - blindly rushes target; stuns & generates enmity.

    Paladin: Bastion - knocks the target backward 5 yalms; generates enmity.

    I don't consider any of these "positionals"

    When I think positionals, I think trick attack, or monk in general. Something that requires you to either be in front, behind, or on the flank.

    What you listed are gap closers. Or in repelling shots case, the opposite.

    Whatever semantics; gap closers - gap openers - they have to do with positioning and movement... Either way I feel like tanks would greatly benefit from having tools of this nature.

    I thought this was why Provoke has longer/as long range as every other ability? Also, Holmgang can be used to stop casual mobs if they turn away.

    While i wouldn't mind sum new abilities for my pld. I don't chase any1 to get a mob off them if a dd or healer pulls aggro on a mob they should be smart enough to bring it to the tank.If they just blindly run around I will watch them die

    Knocking something back would be incredibly situational. Would be better if both PLD and WAR just had gap closers.

    I can see this - I suppose I'm colored by generally having Paladin main tank and Warrior having to cover adds (FCOB/SCOB as an example)

    PLD - Should have a running shield bash move, sort of like a shoulder tackle
    30 or 60 second CD

    WAR - Should redo holmgang and make it the scorpion "get over here"/remove invincible effect
    30 or 60 second CD
    New invincible ability, should just heal for the amount of damage taken, instead of taking damage

    This would be more fun!
