    90002 constantly

I disconnect frequently, whether i'm alone or in a party. Seems to happen more at night, don't know if it has to do with how many people are in the game. Happens both in dungeons and out in the world. Weird thing is, when I disconnect it's like my whole router shuts down. Can't reach the internet on any device connected to it for a few minutes. I've tried opening the ports, didn't really do anything. Updated the firmware, didn't help. My router is a netgear 6250. Seems more like it's this game than the router as my router has been through many games with no issues. Guild Wars 2, WoW, Wildstar, many fps games. I can stream movies while playing most games and not get noticeable lag, why can't I stay connected to this one when it's the only thing i'm doing? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

    EDIT:
Just noticed in the Lodestone there is a message that Ormuco has maintenance scheduled for tonight. No details on it, but it could <hopefully> be something to address some of the potential bottlenecking we've seen in the past around the peering exchanges and/or VLAN's. They've gone through this before and were able to eliminate some congestion issues in the past. Keep your fingers crossed!

sounds like your modem is restarting or at least having issues with it's DHCP lease it gets from your ISP. Hard to say without looking at the logs. May want to contact your ISP. The game disconnecting and such should have no bearing on your network loosing access--more appropriately, it sounds like your network going down/resetting is causing your game to disconnect.

This could be triggered by a host of reasons including but not limited to localized interference, power fluctuations (either at the pole or the adaptors that power your modem/router), signalling issues between devices or at the demarcation point or somewhere upstream from your location, screwy firmware update that has borked the modem/router (happened last year with Belkin Routers and their automatic firmware update feature)... a long list of things, the majority of which your ISP would be the more likely candidate to help you diagnose/fix--heck, they may even be responsible for the problem in the first place.

I can wire my laptop directly to my modem when this happens and I'll get internet, it's the router not my Isp. It's some way the game interacts with my router. When the game first came out, i had a crappy linksys router that broke. Game worked perfectly for months with this router. Then I upgraded to a netgear. This problem started happening but only with this game. I left ffxiv because of this problem for 8 months, playing many other online games including 4 other major mmos and have never had a problem with any of them. Then I come back to FFXIV and this is still happening every time I play.

Edit: Also, in searching for a fix, i've found I'm not the only person with this exact problem, but none of them had any answers in their threads either.

Check if UPNP is active on the router... has been known to cause problems in the past. There also should be no need for any kind of port-forwarding under the typical home setup if you are using it. NAT should manage port direction just fine, as well as the stateful inspection in the router's firewall. You should only need to set up port forwarding for perimeter security like you may find in a business or college campus, but even then it may not be necessary depending on their security model.

Also, may want to toggle off IPV6 as well if it is active. It may clean things up a bit as well...some people have had strange issues with it active with some routers when hitting services stil using only IPV4.

As stated earlier, there have been issues in the past with pushed updates to network devices. ISP's have borked modems/routers in the past. Belkin borked entire lines of routers last year with a glitch in their automated firmware update system. Time Warner recently had problems with customer owned modems basically spamming for new DHCP leases HOURLY because they knackered up the config files that were sent to them during appropriation and lease renewals.

So.. it could in fact be something linked to something going on with your router/modem configuration, so you may want to go through their logs and signal pages to see if you can spot anything out of sorts there.

Turning off upnp fixed it somehow. Thank you!
