I'm in a free company with awesome nice people
Noob question: Ever since i started to play as a tank properly, during when i'm in a dungeon i randomly hear a "Shing!" noise, like a sword noise or something multiple times, then when we complete the dungeon i get a notification saying 1 commendation (Something like that) with the people in the party and i just picked any.
Not sure what it is or whats it for. :s

Edit: Plus i keep hearing people leveling up to more than 50, but for some reason my exp remain 0 (o.o)

That 'shing' sound is probably the sound that happens when a piece of equipment fully spiritbonds - once this happens that piece of equipment can be converted into materia by using the the relevant command (found under Actions and Traits).

As for Commendations, this is a system where players can reward a member of their party who they felt worked well or was just a nice person - only those who are not on your Friend List can be given a Commendation though. There are Achievements you can unlock by getting lots of Commendations so it's worth it (especially as the higher ones give nice rewards, like the gilded magitek armour and parade chocobo).

Tank is probably not the best archetype class to play if you're not confident with game mechanics.

You can either learn by watching videos, but if you're afraid of spoilers that's not an option.
Or you can just grow a thick skin and dive in head first ignoring what reaction you may get from your party.


What I've chosen to do is to play Healer along side my tank, so I usually play my Healer first time around to get the mechanics down and go in as tank after.


Tbh, the combat mechanics in dungeons are so cliche not exclusive to FF14.. Just about all MMO dungeon crawling share similar mechanics, so once you get the basics down it should come pretty natural for you. It's just getting over that initial hump..

You can't level past 50 until Heavensward. Your exp will remain 0 until then. Nobody can or has leveled past 50.
