    More Contemporary Glamours

So I was trying to Glamour my Scholar earlier, and I wanted to give him a more modern day look. Unfortunately, most clothes are the aweful olde timey gear that we usually have to suffer through until we reach level 50; and most of those are just recolors of those same clothes. And certain clothes that could be considered more modern are either class exclusive, or have "aweful" dye colorations. The sailor pants are nice but, that stupid red patch needs to go, and the Snow coat is nice but only the coat itself can be dyed. Could we maybe get some modern shirts and pants, please.

Oh and if anything is gender specific, MAKE IT FAIR! None of that girls can wear both, guys only get one deal.

I probably wouldn't find use for it with most of the things I choose to glamor, but it would be nice to have a solid-color t shirt style chest item.

You do realize that FFXIV's world is an old-fashioned setting - this would be like playing Lord of the Rings Online and demanding your character drive a car and use a smartphone. *rolls eyes*

Basically, the style of clothing available in the game suits the setting. If you're after something more 'contemporary', you will not find it here because it simply does not fit.

The game does have contemperary clothes but they are either class/job locked or have some odd dye pattern that only works with the rest of the set, plus there are the lightning/snow and cloud sets. I doubt the setting of the game would dictate what clothes the player can wear, I mean this is a game where we can fight in bikinis, modern day bikinis.

The Lightning/Snow outfits were special unique items "from another world"

Personally, I think the snow outfit sticks out like a horrible sore thumb and rather contemporary clothes not run around in this world because they just don't fit.

Actually, there's a lot of contemporary-looking gear in the game already, at least for female characters that I know of since that's what I play..not to mention that moogle costumes and fat chocobo face masks etc. don't really strike me as a very 'classic' look either tbh, nor do the glowy elements of some endgame gear sets. In all honesty, I think there's a difference between "old fashioned" and "fantasy" and the gear aesthetics and overall design of ffxiv leans more toward the latter than the former. I can agree on the opinion that cars don't belong, because that would ruin my immersion, but I doubt that a couple more modern sets for male characters would effect immersion all that much.

That being said, to OP: I've noticed that a couple of the blue dyes will take on a denim-like look when applied to gear with the right sort of texture. I've actually used that effect before on some of the lower level crafting leg gear to get a 'jeans and halter top' sort of outfit. Might work fairly well on a male character too.

Yeah I've noticed this and tried on some of the other low level dyable gear, but sadly there are other issues. And while obviously not game breakers they can be a bit frustrating. Plus I'm guessing most of these issues effect guys more then girls. Like I know shoe selections aren't great, but almost every pair of shoes, not just boots, cuts into the pants, creating a weird effect. And some pants have nice designs on them, like the gambler pants, that are ruined by placing boots over them. Plus there is the whole gear lock thing. This all came about because I wanted to glamour my Scholar, and magic clothes suck. Hopefully Heavensward will bring in newer/better designs.

A plain t shirt and a pair of jeans won't break immersion.

So, I do wish we had better looking gear, and more variety. And maybe something some options for how it looks. First thing that pops into my head: hempen camise. I love the way it looks on my highlander, but I have better glamor options if it looked like it did for pretty much every other race, a Sleeveless shirt.

Im all for more variety...of any style.

Contemporary clothes cant be any less "suitable" then a reindeer or snowman running around..lets not forget ghost and those pumpkin heads, the game is filled with silly looking costumes that do not "match" the games style..so obviously gear doesn't have to be a carbon copy of npc style to make it in
