[Suggestion] Uniquely FFXIV - Sappers, Saboteurs, Trappers...etc

Here's an idea to utilize DoL and DoH classes in instances:

    Miner:
Plant explosives to blow up road obstructions
Collapse tunnels to prevent being overwhelmed
    Break pillars to crush bosses

    Botany:
Cut vines to make ropes (+weaver) to climb up/down cliffs
Cut down trees to ford a fast flowing stream (+carpenter)
Make traps to bind, slow, disable enemies
Cut down trees to prevent flying creatures from resting in the branches

    Fishing:
Allowed to throw spears (spear fishing) to disable fish-like monsters
Hold monsters down by netting them
Fish up secret weapons from pools (e.g. a specially virulent toad to make poison, +alchemy)

    ----------------
Interaction can be simple, like harvesting points - Perhaps a different mini-game to spice things up.
Make things exciting - Spawn mobs to attack when the DoL or DoH is working.

For initial instances, make the requirements low, like R10 or R20 so that people can slowly accept this type of instances. Make it completable without actually utilizing the classes but apply penalties or bonuses for the lack thereof or presence of them.
E.g. Break a pillar with your weapon but suffer 50% durability loss.

I suggested something simiar some time ago...but Yoshida already was clear about not willing to mix DoW/M and DoH/L content (don't ask me why...IMO it would be very interesting having content where you required more than a bunch of Conans and Legolas to get past...would be nice having content where, as example, DoL could be your pathfinder in forests or caves or crafters having FFXI ninjutsu-like spells (spending different grades materias depending of the spell) to do repairs and buffs based on the gear a character is using, like ARM being able to temporary increase the effects of heavy armors or CRP being able to increase the range of bows)

Basically i think it would be extremely interesting leaving DoW/M as front-line jobs and leaving DoL/H as back line jobs since they wouldn't really be able to engage in fights.

I see no reason why there can't be tactics that involve DoL/H during certain battles. It doesn't always have to be Tank/DD/Heal strategy. Unfortunately some have a hard time getting out of this mindset. If they insist on keeping it out of large dungeons, they should at least consider small instances, akin to assault, that could incorporate the use of strategies involving DoL/H in ways similar to those stated here.

Indeed. I do would love seeing this kind of thing. If you guys want to see one of my suggestions, here it is: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...tion-Guild-Job

Just be warned that posting there will be considered necrobumbing since only 1 person actually replied it when i posted...for some reason no topics from me seems to be popular ^^:

In short, it was a "behest-like" suggestion for cooperative content between all 4 disciplines.

I must have missed that thread. Certainly an interesting concept you have there. It makes me sad that DoL/H go largely ignored when it comes to content. I know they'll never be accepted as 'main' classes, but they're still classes and should have something other than a few leves and grinding to look forward to.

I can't imagine why your topics tend to get shunned. Had I a list of people whose opinions I respect, however short such a list might be, you'd be on it.

That would be cool. One person is required to make an item with the materials you get in a chest. They others must defend that person against hordes of mobs that come in. Same for DoL. That'd be awesome.

It'd definitely to be interesting to see craftsmen and gatherers be implemented in boss fights, though this would probably be only viable in alliance battles and only against a single boss. You can go in with all combat classes for your standard mix-up... or you can do things differently and bring a group or two of crafters and gatherers to change how the fight would go, either from slowing incoming adds, providing cover for combatants, impeding the boss through terrain, or fixing/assembling machinery to aid the fight in either damage dealing or healing. I'm a pessimist though, and doubt they'll ever do anything like this.

Indeed. Just because a class cannot engage a monster doesn't mean they cannot take part in the battle. Who never saw those bosses with minigoals, where straight fight alone isn't enough to win?

    One example:

You having a giant boss who cannot be reached in a room. The boss can attack us but we cannot attack him...place multiple rocks around and a cannon...Miners can break the rocks, obtaining a certain item or triggering multiple minions. If you get the minions, DoW/M fight them. If you get the item, give it to the blacksmith or alchemist so he can craft a cannon shell, load the cannon and shot the boss. Once he was hit by the shot he would fall to the ground, being temporarily accessible to DoW/M attacks.

Its simple, easy to program and does make every discipline important there.

Another example would be a plant tmonster that is healed over time by its flowers and use vines to destroy the area. You have Botanists chop off the flowers while carpenters repair the paths damaged by the vines that give access to the monster.

The options are endless...as soon as they feel like adding this kind of cooperative content. ^^

Well I am sure half the forum populace will bitch about "content too hard" if this is added.

I think the main reason why they don't want to mix DoH/L with DoW/M in instances is because DoH/L deal with the economic content of the game while DoW/M deal with the battle content of the game. It would be kind of unfair to have DoH/L participate in battle-related instances and content and still be doing crafts and trade to make huge profits while DoW/M wouldn't have that aspect.

So DoH/L would end up with 2 types of content while DoW/M would only be focused on battle content.

I'd rather they do end-game content specific to DoH/L than have DoW/M have to rely on them for some instances on top of having to rely on them for crafts/repairs/consumables.

this thread here has some awsome suggestions:
