I still think people vastly underestimate the amount of work required to do any of these ideas. It's not just some work. Its a massive amount of work. SE said at Pax East it takes a full year to produce a new Job for the game. One whole year. The three new jobs for Heavensward was a massive effort by the battle team from the sound of it. Your talking about reworking ALL the classes.

It might be a good thing or something that would really help the game but the question exists if its feasible. Its not just a small adaptation. Its messing with the foundations of the game. That is highly risky and messy.

As for FF14 losing players to WoW or a new MMO, its always possible though with WoW the same issue as this is even more chronic. Cataclysm was a disaster for WoW with the revamp eating so much into its resources the actual expansion was very sub par, something Blizzard themselves admitted. If anything that's an argument against such a change since Cataclysm lead to a huge decline in WoW's subscription numbers.

Again, Im not saying that it wouldn't be something that would make the game better. What I'm saying is it seems highly unrealistic in the likely amount of work and resources it would take to facilitate the change. It would likely come at the cost of a drastic reduction in the amount of playable content available as resources would have to be re rooted to facilitate the adaptation in a reasonable timeframe.

There's nothing overly-dramatic about wondering if/when a game will fall flat on it's ass. It happens all the time for reasons far less important than how the game's class system pans out.

FFXIV rides on its name, it has a big fanbase that are loyal to the brand, and sometimes to a fault. This isn't by any means a bad game, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

From scratch*. It takes a whole year to produce a brand new job for this game from nothing. That's not what I'm saying or I don't think anyone else is for that matter. If that were the case and rearranging jobs and even using old resources, then the redesign from 1.0 to 2.0 should've taken much longer than 2 and a half years. Because that's what? 9 classes/jobs? But even at that ALL classes dont need reworked, some could just be streamlines. You wouldn't need BOTH lancer and dragoon, you'd just have dragoon (i.e. no changes). You wouldn't need thaumaturge and Black Mage.. just have black mages.. (again no changes)

I'm talking about these classes/jobs that have been smooshed together and don't make a whole lot of sense why they were and that are also, as a result, held back because of it. Summoner/Scholar, Bard/Archer, (Those two examples really do NEED it) Ninja/Rogue(actually that one kind of makes sense but while we're here why not ask for a full blown thief?), White mage/ Conjurer (another DoM Job anyone? Or scrap it.) But even with those few you're also only talking about reworking 20-30 levels of each depending on if its a job or a class that you're fleshing out.

Given what this dev team has already done with this game, which was take what once was essentially a floating turd in MMOspace and polishing it into a gem, I have full faith that they could pull it off and with very little trouble. But I do realize it's just a 'what-if'. I just like throwing ideas out and maybe sometimes they might get picked up who knows. You never know until you give it a shot. Because devs might surprise you. I know I've seen a lot of things happen over the years in MMOs where I thought, "Naah they'd never do that." Then they did.

Havenae got the point. They need time to design a job from scratch, not reworking. For example, next exp pack there wont be any new jobs instead a rework from this shitty class job system with some jobs coming from the classes. There are plenty of way to improve it actually they just need some incentive from us players

All SE is gonna do is make a quest for the current jobs at lv 50 to "Bind" the soul gems into your character, thus allowing you to learn your 51-60 skills. Done.
