What I mean is, rework the way the way they play, to fill slightly different roles in groups. Make the Gladiator into a DPS class, focused more on dishing out raw damage, removing all allusions to Holy or Light abilities. In cintrats, the Pugilist might remain DPS, but instead sacrifice DOTs and positioning bonuses for front-facing attacks with minor bonuses to survivability.

Personally, I think the base Classes are too cool to be left as redundant relics of 1.0. Instead, I'd like to see them as interesting alternatives to their corresponding Jobs. In addition, I would personally like to see each of these Classes get its own unique Artifact Armor set. Even if they aimed a bit simpler, I think it would add a lot of flair to them, such as Gladiators getting a bare-chested Greco-Roman design with a Roman Centurion helmet, that sort of thing.
