I do it all the time on both single target and group pulls. While it may not be as good as a few Ruins, it is extra damage happening while I switch out of Cleric Stance to get back to healing. I find by the time I get in Shadow Flare + 3 main dots + Miasma II somebody is in need of heals. Extra damage without actively casting is fantastic.

Or you could use Miasma 2 one of the mobs and then Bane the rest. It might be more work but you would probably be safer.
