As the person below me said, my point was that Miasma II is 70 potency whilst the Ruins are 80 potency on single-target. If you don't want there to be the wind-up time, just do a Ruin II on single-target.

Anyway, I am done hijacking the thread. Got nothing to say about controller hotbar setups as a PC player!

Well, if all are welcome to share..

Set 2 is heal, 3 is L2->R2/R2->L2, 4 is for DPS. Left side is dpad, right side is buttons. The only macros are resurrection (announced to /p), cleric stance (swaps between hotbar 2/4) and fairy summons (summon into obey for eos/sic for selene [I'm lazy] and place the corresponding embrace on the hotbar). I do have limit break, hp potion, and mp potion bound to the numpad (as it's very rare for me to use these).

I do have quite a bit of redundancy.. sustain/aetherflow/energy drain/leeches/lustrate/embrace/e4e are useful while both healing and dpsing, and I found I was wanting to use Eos skills while dpsing, so I set those to my expanded bars. Probably means I should redo mine a bit again.. but at least I know I'll be prepared to add more skills for Heavensward.

Or you could use Miasma 2 one of the mobs and then Bane the rest. It might be more work but you would probably be safer.

A nice trick I used with SCH/SMN + controller is to have a keyboard hotbar scaled at +120% UI scale set above the cross bar. Rouse, Swiftcast, Aetherflow, and Pet Abilities are on this hotbar.

It's purely for observation purposes, I can easily see the cool down of these actions.

Summon macro swaps this hotbar for each pet (as well as the crossbars for actually executing the pet actions). Here are the screenshots:

    Crossbar 1

    ...
Crossbar 2 (Right Bumper Toggles between these first two. This second isn't used often.

    ...
Crossbar 3 first half (left trigger held, then right trigger held) (mostly continued DPS options)

    ...
Crossbar 3 second half (right trigger held, then left trigger held) (pet and continued healing options)

    ...
Summon Macro in Action: The Keyboard hotbar swaps as well as the crossbars, allowing me to see pet action cooldowns. Compare this pic to the one above

    ...

Having Embrace and Physick on close seems like a nice trick. I'll have to try that.

Question: what would an Embrace macro look like?

By default Embrace heals the pet (if no target selected).

I'd like to make a macro so the default would be me. (something like "Embrace <t>" \n "Embrace <me>" ) i got /petaction to work, but /micon (/macroicon) doesn't. Sad ***Solved: /micon "Action" pet "Pet Name" *** /edit Can't be done X_X

The reason I did it was so I could target my party but still be able to attack since I used to be (and still am, really) terrible at stance-dancing and targeting quickly. I'm improving though...
I do the same thing with my Attack macros and I highly recommend it. To properly spam Embrace on the tank over 80% health while DPSing, you have to keep the tank targeted to Embrace. <f> is the only good way I have come up with to focus up all my DoTs and Bane on the same enemy reliably while the tank is targeted and potentially rotating his attacks. Attempting to manually switch targets enough to accomplish all this is incredibly tiresome and less effective than using macros. I have personally gotten very good at timing my casts without the queue and I don't lose any DPS.
