My Scholar Hotbar Crosshotbar Setup (Controller)

So in some threads I've seen people seem to have trouble setting up the Scholar hotbars with a controller, saying they need to drop abilities they don't need, or aren't sure how to set it up so it works well.

I've been using a controller for a pretty long time, and I've gotten it to a point where it's very comfortable, so maybe it can help some folks.

So to start with R2, Square is Physick and X is Embrace. This is so I can spam click X and have Eos constantly heal, and when I need to pump up the heals, spam X and Square at the same time.

Adlo and Succor are on the same set, to have your main heals all clustered together.

My most commonly used abilities are on the R2 D-Pad. This actually shares a similar setup as my WHM so its easy to swap between healers.

Lustrate on Up and Aetherflow on Right. Down is Whispering Dawn macro'd with Rouse. That is the one concession I had to make, not giving Rouse it's own button. On the Left is Cleric's Stance, macro'd to switch my hotbar to Crosshotbar 2. Here are the macros if you're curious:

    ____________________________________________________________________
    /micon "whispering dawn" pet Eos
    /ac "rouse"
    /pac "whispering dawn"

    and

    /micon "cleric stance"
    /ac "cleric stance"
    /chotbar change 2
    _____________________________________________________________________

On the L2 side, X, Square, Triangle, and Circle are my less used abilities that I still need quick access to. X is Fey Illumination (healing buff), Square is my Energy Drain macro'd to <t> <tt> so I can get some MP back without switching targets. Triangle is Stoneskin and Circle is Leeches. Pretty simple.

The D-Pad buttons are basically all mitigation. Sacred Soil, Virus with <t> <tt> macros, Eye for an Eye, and Fey Covenant.

    ________________________________________________________
    /micon "virus"
    /ac "virus" <t>
    /ac "virus" <tt>
    /p Virus used on <tt>
    <se.7>
    ___________________________________________________________

    /micon "energy drain"
    /ac "energy drain" <tt>
    /ac "energy drain" <t>
    ___________________________________________________________

Now here's the key for me, and ease of access - Enable the L2+R2 and R2+L2 combination. It opens up a full extra hotbar without actually switching, which can get messy in the heat of battle.

Swiftcast (Left on D pad) and Resurrection (Up) are as close to each other as possible so I can get them both off quickly. I also like having my pets close to Swiftcast, because who has the time to cast it?

Protect (Triangle) is here because I don't use it often but still want access to it, Sprint (X) I use all the freaking time, Limit Break (Circle) is again ease of access, and Sustain is just in case (Square)

    R2+L2 abilities

Mount Roulette (Right) and Teleport (Square) are in that spot on every one of my characters. Don't know why, I just had some extra spots in an area where I don't really use very often.

I use Heel and Place all the time, the others not so much, but when you need access to them it's great to have.

This is Hotbar 2. It's usually only accessed by using my Cleric Stance macro that auto-swaps for me.

The entire R2 side is very similar to my healing hotbar, in case I need to pump out some emergency heals on myself solo, or the party while I'm DPSing. Embrace is awesome to have here because it's not affected by Cleric's, but Physick isn't as useful, but still nice to have. Lustrate it essential to have access to while DPSing.

The only thing of note on the R2 side is another Cleric Stance macro, this time to switch back to Hotbar 1. If you want to make that macro, use the earlier one but literally just change the "2" to a "1" in a new macro.

L2, basically what ever works for you. This part I basically just threw together.

And that's it! Pretty simple with just a few tricks to make things easier. No abilities overlooked, and everything is in easy access. The only problem I've ever had is with the Cleric Stance macro - if you press it while the ability is still on cooldown to switch out of Cleric's, it'll still change hotbars. So you could be set to your healer hotbar while in Cleric Stance and not realize it. So, it may not be perfect, but it's a very comfortable setup for me.

Hope it helps some people! If I wasn't clear about something or you have some other questions, I'll be happy to help.
