I really hope this wont happen, we all know what will happen at end game if this thing involve
and at end game it will be : you need to wear that gear or you suck/dont get party invite/nooob, and repeatWhat is the point of getting gear if it's not going to make you good? In a game where everything is under formula calculation, gears always play big roles.
These can be handled with dynamic contents where paying attention is needed of course, like CON that knows how to cure fast will always be better than the one that doesn't, but obviously you are going to get replaced by CON that heals as fast but, heals more (because of cure potency gear).

Again, it will depends on how content is designed. But, i supposed you wouldn't know how current instanced dungeons works and just assume every fight will be like FFXI where everything is to be tank and spank method.
yeah this will happen, they said they want to build a more gear focused game somewhere

The races always have started with different attributes at Rank 1. They add up to the same number of points (90) regardless of race (AD&D style). So Highlanders have the most starting Strength and Lightning, Dunesfolk have highest starting Earth and Piety, etc.
The above quote probably means that the increases in attributes as you level up will not be different depending on race, but will add to those same race-based starting attribute numbers.

I think it's a good idea to remove this physical level system. Within the first month of release, I realized how strange and pointless having a physical level was. Very quickly "Your physical level means nothing" was said to pretty much everyone of my friends that tried FFXIV out with me. We could never stay within the rank range of each other, because of the randomness of skill-up like SP, and the skimp rewards of physical level came more steadily from crafting and DoH classes. The slight advantage of physical levels (Mainly HP dictated from VIT and MND on MP) came not from battle, but from crafting, which just didn't make sense to me.

Any word on how food effects (tastes divine/tasty) will work after this, since those require certain stats?

I believe that the way food works is getting revised in 1.20 or later (Yoshi explained that ALC and CUL were getting food and potion revisions because they did not get any materia interactions).

*The impact of attributes will decrease as players gain in level; however, the benefits granted by gear will be increased.
^ A tad confused by that, seems rather like a slight overcomplexity where it isnt needed, stats getting worse the better you get but gear getting better as a trade off? =S Stats are usually the one thing i like to think i know where i stand in a game. I'm gonna try not to let my imagination run wild on that one though, everything else sounds just great so i'll wait and see how it turns out.

It will probably be something simple like.*The impact of attributes will decrease as players gain in level; however, the benefits granted by gear will be increased.

At level 10 +5 Dex given to your stats from your class will give 10% accuracy, but at level 50 it'll only give 2% bonus.
But then Equipment at high levels will always give the full 10%? but you'll never see equipment with +5 dex until the 50's etc.
Diminishing returns on Stats from character development.
Increasing returns from equipment development.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Sounds pretty confusing even for a program, if you have 10 points in acc with 1 dex and later at level 50 you will have 2 points in acc with 1 dex, but the gear will have 10 points with 1 dex point, i think is complicate stuff, but ok im just guessing here, please SE let us know about that, its not the end of the world for us if we dont but will ease our mindsIt will probably be something simple like.
