I'm tired of hearing about bots

It's hard when they don't even google "ffxiv bot" and demand the closing of all the sites providing them. I think this should be the first step - to cut the source.

Second of all, analysing the existant bots and launch a patch that would rend them useless.

Last but not least, have 1 GM per server for like, 1 day a week, travel through all the camps and cities to check for bots.

they cant do anything to the people making the programs, those people are their own entitity
they can only do something to the people using them


personaly, rmt arent what im mad at, its the so called "legit players" who arent rmt who use these programs, and then prance around like they dont(im talking damn near a whole ls who promotes doing it on besaid, and ive caught doing it several times with several of their members)

people have a very skewed vision of what bots really are. Bots don't directly hurt anyone:FACT. It is up to the user to decide how the bot will be used.

Example: a user decides to use say....a crafting bot to make his own crystals that he needs for certain things. He is not going to sell these crystals. He is not directly hurting anyone.

Example 2: A user decides to use a bot to grind out 100 stacks of crystals/shards and only sells them. This person is directly hurting the economy by flooding the market.

point: User 1 made an appropriate decision. User 2 made a poor decision and this is the person that 99% of the game population sees all botters as.

Besides...all games have botters and they haven't gone away yet. There really isn't anything you can do other than make the game so incredibly bad that the "bad" botters don't even want to touch it.

That's a pretty idiotic thought imho. There are no 'good' botters and 'bad' botters... Just botters. It doesn't matter what you use it for, they provide a clearcut unfair advantage over legit players, and are against the terms of service. People who use bots should know better than to try to defend it... They know exactly what they're doing, and they know it's wrong, but they do it anyway. I'm sure most of them will get banned eventually once the ban waves start, as that's pretty much always how it goes with these games... But, of course, some won't, and there'll always be new bots right up until the day the servers go down for good.

Like, if you wanna stay neutral about them and just don't care if other people bot, good for you. But anyone who defends botting is either an idiot or, surprise, botting, lol. If you don't like the game enough to play it, and have to use a bot, you should just move on to some other game.

This game is different from other mmo's in that you're not supposed to cap everything in a week. That doesn't mean cap everything ASAP by any means necessary, i.e. botting... That means take your damn time, enjoy the game, and things will lvl gradually over time. Again, if you want instant gratification and quick easy leveling, there's plenty of other reward button games out there to pick from.

Anyways, personally, I hope SE doesn't ban the bots one at a time... Would be better to lull them into a false sense of security, and compile a nice big list of everyone who has used a bot... Then, like a week before the PS3 launch or big expansion/patch, permaban them all, lol. If you do it too soon, then they don't miss out on much, and will just buy another copy of the game and resume botting, and be capped again before the next patch.

Big deal, people have botted across all games since the beginning of games, not even bots, im referring to cheating, Single player games to now MMOs, most gamers dont want to deal with staring at a screen forever for an objective they want to complete, so they bot to get it done faster. Is this right? No, but is it wrong? No, its a gamer's choice on how they wish to play a game. Even if it against ToS of the game people will always bot, bot makers will always make bots once their previous bots are found and disabled, this is even the reality of the 9 year old final fantasy XI at the moment, it will never change, threads like this are seriously old, over wrote, and ridiculous, if you are worried about RMT corrupting this game as it did FFXI during its beginning, remember this, RMT dont farm gil if you dont buy it~ Enough said, end of story, i.e. its the players fault for indulgeing in the easy way of getting things done, as i said earlier, its a gamers choice how they wish to experience a game.

Okay, I'll be honest here, I only read about half of this. Please paragraph your run-on rant next time, it's annoying to read.

Anyways, first of all, I didn't say botting would cap you in a week... I said if that's what you're after, there's other games more suited to it... And I mean a week of actual play time, not a week of letting your bot run.

Secondly, saying that people do it anyway is not a valid argument in defense of something... People commit all sorts of crimes regardless of laws, that does not mean it's not still wrong to do so. So is it wrong? Yes, yes it is. The people who made this game are the ones who run it and set forth the rules, and breaking those rules as laid out in the terms of service is in fact 'wrong' of you to do. I'm not saying people won't still do it... I'm just saying that to defend something like that is idiotic. If you're gonna bot, fine, bot... But don't insult peoples intelligence by being stupid enough to try and defend it. You know you're cheating if you bot and you know it isn't fair, but if that and the risk of getting banned isn't gonna stop you, then so be it.

Lastly, there's this, which is a fine analogy to reiterate my point. Say bots are like guns... There's no good or bad ones, right? Well, be that as it may, if you use a bot in a game that has them barred in accordance with the ToS, then it's effectively the same as using a gun in a country for a purpose that said country has deemed illegal, such as armed robbery or hunting without a license. Is that wrong? Again, yes, yes it is. Not a hard concept to grasp. If you wanna say using a bot is fine, use it somewhere it's not banned, like on your own PC to sort your junk. :P

I was trying not to be too offensive the first time around, but now I'm going to be more blunt about this point... If you bot, you're a cheater... If you try to defend botting, you're an idiot...
