While I agree that Gandalf would probably mostly wear robes, what exactly is un-magelike about normal shirts and pants?

I like my Whm AF robe just fine (glamour ftw), I just wish the engine was capable of making them behave a little more like cloth. It's not horrible, but could uses a touch less starch.

Thing is, the mage gear (especially for healers) are slowly becoming haute couture gowns as opposed to mage gear.
