Thanks for posting who came up with the rule... Let's See Dungeons and Dragons 1st came out in 1974. I think its high time we can break with tradition... Though I loved XI, this is XIV, again, we can break with tradition. I'm not saying I want HEAVY armor, but some of the pics people have been posting of mages in armor look cool as hell, can we take a page from that? I'm also not saying I dislike robes, but some variation would be appreciated. I very much like some of these female designs (and some of them are still robes... just much more detailed or varied in their designs):

" Innocent Aris's " set was really cute and you could acquire it from " guestbloom " planting system for housing. People could visit your house and water your guestbloom plant daily. After x amount of time, you had a chance to get a *random* weapon or clothing of this series.

While I love many of the robe designs I can only agree. Too many mage designs are frilly girly robes and us male chars look odd in them.

We need some more short coats that don't look like caped dresses please.

Take a look at the FFXI White mage AF and AF3 gear. Lots of detail but not a long robe that looks like a dress. Also look at the hat. It's a hood but there is still a fringe of hair.

Now look at the upcoming WHM gear we are getting in heavensward. Floor length robe with an open front again and this time with a hooded hat. But the hooded hat hides all your hair. Why. Can't we just have some default fringe of hair so that we don't look like weird nuns. :/
The hood style is similar to the FFXI ones, but those actually show some of your hair. The FFXIV wraps your entire head into weird cloth... will look horrible on male characters.

The WHM hat should be more alike to the current Botanist AF hat. Its pointy, could be cowl like if it was a bit larger but your hair still shows!

Speaking of Heavensward, anyone else upset like me at the BLM set? Sure, it's not a robe, but that hat.. why do we always have to look like we came out of a Tim Burton movie?

The BLM is the best one.
I'm sick of healers looking stupid, especially SCH. WHM is actually cute on the Lala though...the Nun look is very cute.
So disappointed at the SCH as with all the other bad gear healers get...They need to start getting way more creative.

Also would not hurt to have REALLY good seperate gender outfits.
Making things Unisex ALL THE TIME is making things UGLY on healer sets!
And before anyone goes "I'ma guy and I wanna wear a dress" type ordeal, I don't care who wears
what, I just want really nicely made gear...

I want to look bright and cute and maybe a little more high fantasy. Not that the fashion is awful in this game, mind, I think it has really excellent design. But it would be nice if more "pretty" things and more style variety per job.

Another nice option would be a short dalmatica like the one we had in FFXI. Could we also get shorts like this that don't get tucked into boots and become long pants? All shorts in FFXIV get tucked into boots so replicating a look like this is not possible atm.

While I am really excited for Astrologian I am worried about how that AF gear will look on male chars... will we get a big frilly dress as well? :x

The 110 crafted caster culottes are short enough not to get tucked inside long boots so are one route you can take. If you want to use the gathering culottes then you just need boots that end below the knee. It's doable, just tricky!

Also, that BRD Dalmatica pic brings back the memories! =( Very close to my Taru, except my idle gear was primarily JSE instead of AF2. The Dalmatica and Opo crown were a timeless combo though!

Lastly, I must be one of the few people looking forward to the Heavensward WHM AF, I'm going to look ultra cute in it!

As seen with some of the 110 crafted gear its very possible for them to re-create gear from FF11 and even other FF games. When you think of it many of the mage gear from 11 are just stylized bliauds anyway.

We want variety, not 2 years worth of robes.
