Good thing you can glamour the robes away
I'm all for more glamour options myself.
I agree. However I wish mages could get some "glamour" armor like the kind tanks and dragoons wear and vice versa.
Who ever said that mages could only wear robes anyways. Its not like bulky-looking armor hinders us since we cant move while casting anyways :P
Which is why i love the daystar gloves/sollerettes. They're not your traditional mage attire. They're actually armor....too bad (and surprisingly) the evanstar set are not a palette swap as is usually the case![]()
Gary Gygax did - the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, which pretty much every RPG since has utilized basic elements from - one of which is indeed, class restrictions for armour (specifically, the 'no heavy armour on mages' rule.) FFXI's manual actually stated that BLMs can't wear heavy armour because (paraphrasing) "it would otherwise interfere with their ability to concentrate".
Really, if you want to wear heavy armour, maybe you should consider a career change to a tank class methinks?
^This pretty much. Once again, no matter what SE does, it's always wrong.

This is how I remember my WHM from FFXI. I always liked this armor
I agree. I have been thinking about this too. Just because we are mages and healers doesn't mean we need giant robes and hats.
Yeah, especially if you consider some of the Padjals (CNJ/WHM from a lore POV) to wear something these:
Ironically, we cant even glamour hooded robes if we wanted to due to gear restrictions.

I'd agree, and add less coats/highboots combos in general. Not just mages, ALL jobs' latest endgame gear seems to be a variation of always the same style. Long coat and high boots, high boots and long coat. Every freaking where.
>_> Though I wish SE would realize, if it has a long coat, it doesn't need long boots, since 85% of the boots are covered up, you won't ever see them. If it's going to be a long coat, the boots should be short, same for short or open in the front coats, those need long boots so you can see them. Example? Ironworks healer and blm. The boots need to be swapped.
