Another new player looking for advice

Hi everyone,

I'm an FF fan from way back, but haven't been much of an MMO player. I'm currently playing the free trial on PS4 and think I might take the plunge on the full game.

Just have a few questions about which communities/servers to join. I'm in Australia (GMT+10) so probably looking for other English speakers in similar timezones, but a JP server might be better for my connection. I heard Tonberry has a lot of AU/NZ players but it was full when I tried to join. I've currently got a Lv18 THM on Typhon - is it worth sticking around there or should I start again somewhere else?

I'm not going to be a hardcore player, but would still like to finish as much of the game as I can. I'll mostly be playing a couple of hours a few nights during the week, sometimes longer on weekends.

I've only played on Tonberry so I can only speak about it. It is a good server for Australian players. There are mechanics later in the game that can one shot so its good to have even slightly better latency. I know Tonberry is almost always too full to get into but I hear you can get around it by transferring to the server. That's actually how I got in. Down side is it costs money to do a transfer. You can play on a US server but latency will likely be a problem for you that will get frustrating on fights like Titan.

You will find the game has plenty of content for casual players. Infact the bulk of the game is pretty casual. To start with you will probably be spending most of your time following the Main Scenario as it unlocks most of the games other features and content. Everything except Binding Coils (difficulty) and the Relic (time consuming) is pretty casual to play.

I've been to two servers NA ( Malboro) and JP ( Tonberry ) both very helpful communities. Tonberry is the tougher of the two as the server is right up front with more of the high end game raiders, or at least all the players I've come across. I love the atmosphere, very helpful and inviting.

Same here, not much of a mmo fan too but it's final fantasy so yeah XD

There are actually quite a few and we share our time zone with quite a lot of asia so you can find a good population.

Awesome! The closer the less lag, i should really stop playing at 3AM because people complain to me that i lag... (o_0)

I actually play on a Japanese Server, Tonberry. The lag seems quite a lot less and with fights like Titan in the game, that can be significant.

Tonberry can be tricky to get on to though I do often see new players. I understand there is another server on the same battlegroup that is unofficial Oceanic but I'm not sure which one. I'll ask in my FC and see if anyone knows and repost here if I can get an answer. Its just the trick of finding the right server.
