Every time I come upon it, I think "You guys wanna go see a dead body?" I referenced it in a video even (poorly, at that. XD).

Too bad there wasn't a train then you could have, "That was the all-time train dodge"
If you talk to the NPC's at Blackbrush station they will tell you the line is used to haul ore from the Nanawa mines and that is what they are waiting for. At the Ul dah station the npc's there will say they are waiting for the mine carts to come through so they can get a drink.

Those tracks were going to mor dona imperial base to the one inside the shroud. It was said to be for a rapid large troop transport/ supplies
Yes they did, they have even come out and said as much, it was ripped from Nightmare Before Christmas, they could do it because they have previous relations with Disney/Touchstone with using the song in the Kingdom Hearts game (Halloween-town)

Listen to that and tell me that its not the same when those moogles are giving their names, they ripped Nightmare Before Christmas, Mog's Theme from FFVI and Critter Tripper Fritter from FFV, but the cadence is absolutely taken from Nightmare. But that is a completely different topic.
On topic: I could have sworn Yoshi-P said when they were showcasing the new maps (before 2.0 actually launched) that it was in fact tracks for a train not for minecarts.
Ive always wondered thst as well. Kind of hoped that they might actually add a train at some point, as battle atop a speeding train coukd make for an awesome Guildhest.
Nobuo Uematsu composed the moogle theme in 1992 and was first used in FFVYes they did, they have even come out and said as much, it was ripped from Nightmare Before Christmas, they could do it because they have previous relations with Disney/Touchstone with using the song in the Kingdom Hearts game (Halloween-town)

"This is Halloween" was composed in 1993.
#Schooled.
Yes, but there are no lyrical components in the 1992 Moogle Theme, which is what is taken from Nightmare Before Christmas, which is what I was pointing out in the youtube link (as it starts with the part of the vocals that was sampled into Moggle Mog Theme).

PS: Moogle Theme from FFV is called Critter Fritter Tripper which is referenced in my post :P
What does that have to do with trains in FFXIV though? Except maybe a thread derailment?
Bad pun I know...
That's not correct - as I mentioned earlier the railway between Castrum Meridanium and Castrum Centri is a completely separate line from the railway in Central Thanalan - the tracks don't even look the same because they were built and are owned by different countries, the former naturally owned and operated by the Garlean Empire.
It was this line that was blockaded by Gridania during Operation Archon and they sent troops into Mor Dhona specifically for the task as the line runs nowhere near the Black Shroud.

I liked that bad pun; but it was started because I linked a song (Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne) saying they should sample that song if they do a Doomtrain/Phantomtrain trial. At least have a crazy conductor yell "all aboard!" and laugh manically would be fine tbh.
