Suggestion for new mechanic: Loot Hunter

It really sucks queueing for 90+ minutes numerous times on the hunt for a specific piece of loot in a raid and not getting it after searching all week. I'd like to suggest something to make this experience less frustrating...

The "Loot Hunter." How it would work would go something like this:

In your main menu, you would select "Loot Hunter." From there, you type in the name of a specific item that you're looking for. You can only have 1 item selected in your Loot Hunter at a time. If you're in an area where that item can show up, then its chances of appearing double. This would stack with the members of your party, so if all 8 players in an 8-man raid chose the same item, it would have 8 times the chances of appearing, while if they all chose different items, those 8 items would each have twice their chances of appearing.

Would this be a plausible mechanic to add? Would it be healthy for the game?

That might take the fun out of it, if everything can be found within a day. This is the kind of thing that might have more purpose in the hunt for Atma's and Alexandrite, but not for Dungeons and Raids.

For Dungeons and Raids, some kind of loot "pre-need" might work. So you define what items you're looking for, eg you MUST have seen it drop for you or someone else before, then the next time you're in it, the RNG will simply weight items for which there are no pre-needs by party composition so they appear less. (How many times have I played a Raid and only Monk gear has dropped, when here's none in the party.) This also simplifies the regular dungeon runs by offering more gear that non-level synced players might actually need. It really is awful for Raid parties where you get all BRD or all BLM's and everyone wants the same piece of gear. On the other hand... Tanks are laughing.
