Heavensward Not a System Time Buy? How?

From everything I've read, it would seem that people who play on both ps4/ps3 and PC will need to buy the expansion twice to access the content on both systems. I can't seem to find any posts by a Dev anywhere on the matter. Let's completely disregard the fact that this is a horrible, moneygrubbing idea that seriously puts me off purchasing even a single copy of the expansion, even though I know I'll probably give into buying two.

How in the world is this going to work? I can kinda of understand restricted areas, you'll get auto teleported to a nonexpansion area if you login to a system where you only have the base FF14 and not the expansion. But there will be expansion specific items. Will these items stop functioning if you only have the base FF14? If that's the case, someone who has the expansion on one system and doesn't on the other would have to create completely separate gear sets for each system.

Overall, this is a horrible idea and the expansion should be account bound, similar to collector's edition and preorder bonuses, not system bound. If there are any posts confirming or denying whether or not multiple platform users will have to buy multiple expansion copies, please link me to them.

They've already stated that item data* will be provided to non-expac owners and if you logout in an expac area and try to login on a non-licensed device (platform, PS4/PC/PS3/Mac), you won't be able to login to that area you logged off in (can't login/get login error).

*Item Data being gear, job appearances, consumables, etc.

Could you please link me to the info, I can only seem to find info about it from third party gaming news websites. And what will happen with the expansion items if I log into a nonlicensed device, will they completely stop working?

I suppose I should have expected this much from SE after they set the price for a PSP game that's almost a decade old to $59.99...

Thanks for the link, still confused as to whether or not the items will continue to function on non-licensed platforms. I guess now this is just a thread about how making multi-platform users buy the same game/expansion over and over is pretty lame, not that anyone cares.

I'm looking for some of the posts made; but I know that they said somewhere that item data would be provided to non-expansion owners since people with the new jobs will be playing in original areas too. "expansion items stop working" -- I really think this is more focused on the accessible areas, I don't think the items will just stop working. Just like you can sell new items from the expansion on the market board and a non-expansion player can buy and use them.

I updated the my first post above with the comment about the login/logout point between a expansion licensed device and a non-licensed one.

English please? That made zero sense. Whatever this "lyrics game" is, it's probably not a cross-platform mmo.

Either way I'm going to end up buying it for both ps4 and pc, as I prefer one over the other depending on what I'm doing in game.

Not even sure how lyrics got in there, correcting Post now. Still, everything in it is english, so maybe you should learn a few words yourself. And it really doesn't matter whether it's an MMO or not, business is business, the fact that there are, and have been, games on separate platforms, you have always had to buy them separately, why should this be any different?

Apple car dog tree fish ball. Everything there was English, yet it made about as much sense as your first post, so don't be snide because you can't create a comprehensible sentence. And yes, it does matter whether or not this is an MMO. A pretty big chunk of all of the PSN games are cross platform (I buy on one platform, I get on the rest). Obviously this isn't customary with all normal games, but this is not just an MMO, but an MMO expansion. It's not a game, it's more or less DLC.

With your methodology, I should have to pay a separate subscription cost for every system I use.

This is true.
Optional items purchased at the Mog Station are only purchased once for all devices and not "per device"
You'd think that the expansion would work the same way.

I'm still looking the relevant information; but I'm sure that 'items' will continue to work since it will be shared for all players to see the actions/effects.

The key points:
- Need only one copy of collectors version for bonus items (items tied to service account, not platform) [Source]
- Need one copy per platform, regardless either collectors or normal.
- Example: I buy one copy of collector's edition for PC, I get bonus items. I buy regular expansion for PS4, I can still use bonus items on PS4 that I got from PC collector's edition. (or vice versa)
- You cannot access new areas on a platform you've not bought the expansion for.

There is a post floating around here somewhere about the shared item data that *all* players will get regardless if they own the expansion or not. Search here is terrible...
