Funny. I have a life(too much of one, sometimes) and a full time job yet I still have a medium house. And guess what? I don't "RMT".
I just spend my time wisely. Honestly, I don't feel bad about some people not getting housing.
My honest advise? Wait till they add more. It might not be for awhile, but I don't see that as a big deal. If you planned on getting a house I assume you also plan on sticking around for awhile. And since it took you this long to save up for just a small house, waiting a little longer shouldn't hurt.
The "I got my house. Everyone else can jump off a cliff" approach. Bravo.Funny. I have a life(too much of one, sometimes) and a full time job yet I still have a medium house. And guess what? I don't "RMT".

That's not what I said. People simply need to be be patient(or move to a low pop. server, I suppose). Also it's hard to feel sorry for some people when they're aggressive and/or accuse house owners of this and that out of jealously. ;P
I'm not jealous of you, though. The system is annoying. You can pretend I care someone on a completely different server has a house if you'd like, though.

The people should not have to pay $18 to get a in-game home that should of available for everyone from the start. I think people have been patient enough. Hasn't housing been talked about for some time? So I can understand people being upset. I wonder why they went this approach though. Seems like a rushed job. I'm sure it'll be tally-ho when or IF they release homes in Ishgard or anywhere...Just hope this time around it's not horribly planned like this one was
and a lot more people can snag a home.

The reason they aren't opening more housing zones and the fact they are "Satisfied with the current housing situation." Is because more an more people are migrating to higher population servers thus leaving low population servers with a lot of free housing. They take into consideration all servers current housing situations and to them seeing those low population servers with tons of housing still unoccupied in several wards reads to them as "Oh I think we've filled our quota; people still have houses available to purchase."
What SE needs to do is restrict people from server transferring to higher population realms, because those realms are already bursting at the seams with too many players thus causing too much competition over content; housing, hunts, ect. and making the demand seem higher than it should be. They should also start offering free server transfers off high populated realms to less populated ones.

Sounds like the demand is the demand. Including the demand for more people around to do content with. What SE needs to do is restrict people from server transferring to higher population realms, because those realms are already bursting at the seams with too many players thus causing too much competition over content; housing, hunts, ect. and making the demand seem higher than it should be.
If SE is seriously basing its decisions on what the low pop servers are doing, then we're seriously doomed.

The fact is they are. They see servers with housing still available and take that into fact that they do not need to add anymore housing wards. This is the same type of mentality that was used to base housing prices in the first place. They took into consideration ALL players ability to make gil; Including the RMT disease and this is what caused housing prices to be so outrageous when they were first introduced. Larges on some legacy servers costing over 625 million gil and smalls being over 20-40 mil on those legacy servers.
