So if this was added, assuming some of the "Slider" options were taken from this and actually implemented, would players who have already made a character be able to modify him or her? Or would they be forced into making a whole new character? Regardless, I wouldn't mind slider options as long as they were moderately balanced (no cone heads and very tiny heads, etc).

Bayohne posted this earlier in the thread. It also shows up in the side dev tracker.

First off I wanted to say that it's great to hear the kinds of things you're looking for when it comes to updating the character creation options. We're seeing lots of interesting ideas pop up! We spoke with Yoshida and he said that of course, while these kinds of suggestions and ideas will take some time, they do have plans for it in the future! He also feels that it's important to offer the option to change your existing character's appearance at the same time, too.

Sounds pretty exciting, huh? What do you guys think?

I (and many others) are looking forward to seeing what develops from this. This positive feedback from the SE team is greatly appreciated. Thank you for the response.

Cannot wait to hear more on this

I don't know... I'm not a graphics tech or anything. But i just can't imagine gear design/detail reaching it's full potential with sliders. I mean.. i guess they could do it, but would it rob the game in other areas? I have no idea lol.

APB's character creation had so much stuff its difficult to put it into a few words but here's some points.

    - customization of very minute facial details
    - Hair length adjustment for some hairstyles
    - varying degrees of fatness/muscle
    - Large pallet of colors for hair/skin tone

This is mostly the stuff you see in videos, kind of standard stuff, the level of detail per model was definately above and beyond what you'd normally expect.

but this one really set it apart.

    - a vector art decal tool which let you make all sorts of shapes and apply them to characters skin directly (Or clothes or cars)

and this is what you generally dont see much of without looking in game or on their forums but it opened up a whole world of customization, you rarely ever saw clones unless it was deliberate or they were RMT or brand new.

now would this be alright for ffxiv? haha no of course not. But APB did set the bar pretty high.

(Edit: I mean the vector art tool, not sliders, sliders would take doing but COULD work.)

(Double Edit: and believe me the customization options are the ONLY thing i will defend about apb)

customisation in APB is awesome. I really love spending time in ( in te reloaded-beta) and paint my car, and design clothes. Hell i meet guy named harry callahan yesterday, and he was an IDEAL clone of dirty harry. really awesome piece of work on the makers end. This is hovever what som epeople will have against 'overpowered' customisation tools. soon we will have 2 bazillions cloud/sephirot lookalikes. but that is just a matter of policing. in CoH people got randomised alot for ' impersonating' copyrighted heroes/villains

I had a character that looked exactly like Velma and I drove around in a Van painted like the Mystery Machine.

    Hilarity Ensued.

But that was in retail. :/ 2 months was not enough time to play for the 75 bucks I paid into that game.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Ah APB, the only game where you can ride shotgun with Shaquille O'Neal and have a head on collision with the power rangers.

I thankfully didnt have to pay more than box price, someone bought a weapon off me for a month's subscription and furries bought logos from me to pay for the second. Interesting payment system they had set up.

APB doesn't actually have Sliders. It has Range Charts.

You can go Up Down, Left or right to change all kinda of variables on one variable.

IE Pressing up left makes you skinny and unmuscular, bottom right makes you fat but muscular top right makes you skinny but muscular and bottom left makes you fat and unmuscular.
