Wouldn't it be awesome if we could play as kids?

Some of the stories have children in them, and I think this would be a really cool addition to the game. And no, lalafell are not children :P

But it would definitely be the first MMO to allow you to play as a youngling, and not someone over the age of 18 (even the youngest sliders always imply graphical age +18.)

The Final Fantasy series definitely implies that children are a part. My favorite example is Rydia in [IV], and her storyline as a whole. Honestly that's a pretty great story, because it seems a child is what turns Cecil to no longer want to be a dark knight.

There are many MMORPGs out there which let you play as a child, for example Mabinogi in which you can be any age between 10 and ~250.

I mean if you are under 18 and want to represent someone under 18 that's cool, otherwise imo, I think its creepy or adult people to want to play as kids, its kind of like "grow up!" or what if they trick people into thinking their kids :/ like the manqote thing where guys get benefits from other dumb guy who think he's a she.

I do 2nd kids are gross, went around my 5 year old cousin for 1 hour, and yes I got his cold, being a kid is like being forced to be in yucky germy institutionalized places, kid characters will remind me of this.

And I really don't think anything is wrong with playing as a child. Roleplaying (which a RPG is about, after all) is about playing a role you aren't yourself.
Guess what, I'm not a Miqo'te in real life. So why would it be gross or creepy to play as a child just because I'm older in RL?

Eesh, excellent but true replies when it comes to creepers playing as kids. Kitten would be awesome though xD

Maybe MMO's could incorporate it so the parent forces the kid to play as a child character. Than you would know who to ignore?

All it would take is one screenshot of someone... abusing this "feature" for any gaming site to blow it out of proportion. xD Then it would expand outward and FFXIV would be called the game for pedos and weirdos...

Like I said, FFXIV would by far not be the first game to let players play as children and is way less popular and well-frequented than most of them and none of those games ever had any problem regarding this topic.

I'm more concerned about the fact people here seem to think of pedo stuff first as soon as they hear the word "child"..
