Cut my teeth on FFIII (as it was called then; VI as we know it now), Chrono Trigger, Secret of Evermore (SE pretends this game does not exist because it was by Square North America I suppose), and FFVII (to date my favorite single player game ever).

Got into MMO's in highschool with EQ. Nostalgia took me back to it about a year ago and I couldn't believe what we as video gamers use to put up with to play online!

lol, yes a penny was normally enough to prevent skipping. and foil was good, but a wire hanger was better.

Not to de-rail the OP, though I will once more, then thats it. If I remember correctly the coat hanger was for the VHF channels and the foil for the UHF channels as it was a loop antenna for UHF, and harder to pull in, awesome movie by the way Weird Al in UHF.

I didn't actually do this for my TV cause we had a huge antenna on the roof of our house with a dial to make it turn, but my cousin did the noises of the foil on the antenna when he moved it ~shivers~

That dial, only the big floor TV we had was hooked to that thing. Ok who had the giant floor TV with the stereo, record player and 8 track player built into it, with the top cover that opened up. If you had that you were the man in the neighborhood.

I had some old 78's, though I can't honestly remember where I got them, it was an old linguaphone set.

the only 78s I had access to I think were made out of ceramic, or glass. they were heavy and felt almost like glass and I remember one of them broke and the section almost looked like glass.

Did you guys ever blow on the end of your Atari games to get them to work?

Used to break antennas on our tv's all the time. Used hangers and my baton as a fix (and some string and tape and some gum, McGyver style)

Wasn't actually sure what to expect for the average age of my fellow players, I kinda figured as I got older, all the older folks would start cycling out and I would remain as some decrepit curiosity- But I'm glad I was wrong.

I enjoy playing with adults who have lives and responsibility. They're generally more reasonable, even-tempered, and fun to be around.
