45 and 33 1/3. 78s were still there but rare at that point. I used to toy with my player speeds to make the records sound weird, cause what was the point of having those speeds if you didn't use em every so often :P

btw KISS Love Gun 33 1/3 sounds really weird on 78 speed

lol, someone else who knows there were 3 speeds!!

I had some old 78's, though I can't honestly remember where I got them, it was an old linguaphone set. I can't claim that 78s were the standard in my time, for me it was 45s and 33 1/3 as well.

lol, yes a penny was normally enough to prevent skipping. and foil was good, but a wire hanger was better.

the only 78s I had access to I think were made out of ceramic, or glass. they were heavy and felt almost like glass and I remember one of them broke and the section almost looked like glass.

my player had some sort of weight in the arm so I didn't need to do that. was hell on the records if the needle wasn't replaced on time.

I didn't actually do this for my TV cause we had a huge antenna on the roof of our house with a dial to make it turn, but my cousin did the noises of the foil on the antenna when he moved it ~shivers~

Not to de-rail the OP, though I will once more, then thats it. If I remember correctly the coat hanger was for the VHF channels and the foil for the UHF channels as it was a loop antenna for UHF, and harder to pull in, awesome movie by the way Weird Al in UHF.

That dial, only the big floor TV we had was hooked to that thing. Ok who had the giant floor TV with the stereo, record player and 8 track player built into it, with the top cover that opened up. If you had that you were the man in the neighborhood.

lol was thinking the exact same thing... I'm 40 myself, quite surprised how many people there are closer to my own age who play this game, always imagined the majority would be a lot younger Though my mental age... still very silly with an immature sense of humour
