Buffs... yeah, they should definitely last longer. Shell / Protect should last at least 10 minutes, and stygian / shockspikes should be 5. Just making the game a bit less tedious is ALWAYS a good thing.

Maybe the WHM or some other jobs will get longer lasting buffs ^^
Also, I think a stat like MND or magic potency should influence the duration/strenght of the buff spells.
hopefully that will be the case, as far as i can tell with the job system they gave us info about it would seem to be on par with that anyways.
Try adding Roaming Soul before enhancing spell casts oh, and Soughspeak to lessen the enmity gain! :D
Personally I like the shorter times, it makes being a support type class more variable and adds more strategy when using spells.
Dear God yes to increasing the duration of buffs. I'm so glad this was brought up!
So for example!
Protect + Shell = 30min timer
Shock Spikes = 15min timer
So on and so forth.
Please, less spammage of even the most basic of spells.
As for the potency of the buffs that is easily resolved. The job class to which those buffs are native to would have the most powerful versions.
But as a solo player things like Protect and Shock Spikes are my (rather spammy) bread and butter. They help so much! Plus it isn't always that you can get a healer even if you have a group. So I think, perhaps, they can tweak it a bit to fit both roles?
Perhaps the people who use it as a different job will still get use out of it- for example, my PGL uses protect/shock spikes. They can have half the potency of my Conj (if they were the same level). Or some such thing.
Another thing I will point out.
As an FFXI player as well as XIV player I'll say something for the Support p.o.v.
In FFXI I have a level 90 WHM. That being said, I have more than enough to do as a lvl90 WHM even with buffs like protect and shell lasting 30min.
The reason I am pointing this out is because people are pointing out that there isn't much to do otherwise as a support roll.
The thing to keep in mind is that XIV is a very unfinished game. The job classes will be featuring changes in the future. The game as is doesn't have a set 'White Mage'. Conj certainly is somewhat equipped and gets shoved into that role but it can just as easily go offensive with its nukes. The same can be said about a THM. Both of them are quasi- whm/blm jobs.
Once the game is more complete and refined the amount a player does will also become more specialized.
Until then, I think that the game can only benefit from having longer lasting buffs.

Agreed take a note from other MMO's on this one SE. Longer buffs = better short buffs are fine for spells like stoneskin IMO.
If we're going to increase the duration of buffs then their MP cost should be tripled or something to compensate. There needs to be some balance, you can't have a 10 min buff and still expect it to cost like 14 MP lol
