    Lol! That is awesome!

OP: Liked! I remember reading a post around Beta/Early Release asking for an Icon by the server name that indicated an RP server. So anyone creating a new character or transferring could see which ones had a strong RP community.
I don't RP but do have a newbie alt on Balmung. It is quite entertaining to eavesdrop on some conversations.

I actually am thinking it might be nice for roleplayers to have a forum here... I mean there's the lore forum, but that's just for discussing the existing in game stuff... Groups make forums off site for their server or group... But it would be nice to have a place where we can just chat about those rp issues and cool storylines we come up with to share.

Some people do those things sure, but it all depends on the person. From my experience there is no right way to rp as much as how you enjoy writing/interacting in the world. It's sort of like acting but in writing form. Personally, I like to tell stories and interact with people at player made events like balls, masquerades, secret meetings, tea parties, and all the other creative stuffs people come up with. I also like to imagine my character has her own personality and past. She's the type of elf who would tell you tall tales of grandeur while silently judging your footwear over her cup of mulled tea. Whereas out of character me is pretty much a giant care bear that wants to ♥ everyone.

It's really fun for those of us who enjoy that sort of thing, but I can understand why some would find it a bit odd. We just enjoy going that extra mile and being totally immersed in another world
Yay friends! I will definitely keep an eye our for ya when I get on next. Haven't been around much this week due to the irls and a Guild Wars binge, but generally I'm an active player and love making friends on server. ^__^

OMG YES!!! A roleplaying forum here would be so sweet.

I think it would be beneficial if SE did add a new server for RPing. It could help take some heat off servers like Balmung and hopefully encourage the RP community there to take off and get established enough to provide the immersion RPers are mostly looking for.

I may pull an odd duck now, but while I have been preaching for an RP server for a long while, I'm starting bit by bit to see that at the very end, a server of -only- roleplayers would struggle to keep going. Roleplaying is an activity that takes high amounts of time and usually gives nothing back in terms of progress of the server's economy or status within the game's advancement overall (meaning, endgame content). A server without non-RPers would probably end up being with an inflated economy, with only few people farming and providing the market with items and materials (because most of people would be busy RPing, and RP takes time), and with very hard times in finding help for difficult content (because most of people would be busy RPing, and RP takes time). Duty Finder can only do so much to help that, and everybody knows the bad reputation DF pugs have in endgame content.

So, while I am mainly a roleplayer and have a sour eye for those who grief RPers and what they do, I don't think I could have a stable server's economy and community without non-roleplayers. I think Balmung is as close as how an official RP server should be in order to be functional.

While I get what you're saying, the roleplaying realms of warcraft would suggest otherwise. Wyrmrest Accord and Moon Guard were two of the biggest servers and bustling with literally every kind of activity you could think of. Even Balmung's market is more stable and plentiful than my main's server. A lot of people that roleplay are like me. I still play the game outside of roleplay. There's a whole world of dungeons to raid, classes to master and achievements to hunt. Roleplay just makes the whole experience that much more immersive. The problem is I come from a game where all my friends Rped. I love this game and am one of it's biggest advocates but it's really difficult to get some of these friends from wow to come over here when there is no official Rp realm and the unofficial realms are always locked to character creation.

Even if they decide to make one of the least populated servers into an offficial RP server how will they go about it? Even with free server transfers people are only limited to 1 million gil + 100K gil per retainer.

Other's also have houses and FCs that they may not want to leave.

In the end, I do think it's still a good idea to atleast make one on of the leasr populated server an official RP server after heavensward crowd dies out

Yeah, in fact, I was talking of Balmung. Plus, there is another thing that the OP has to consider: housing. If friends aren't enough of a reason for current Balmung/gilgamesh RPers to not transfer to an official RP realm (if this was offered), those of them who own a house will hardly choose to give it up. As of now, we do not have ways to transfer servers and bring our house with us, unfortunately. Which is sad, because I imagine an RP server would have much less ghost towns than we currently do, as many houses are also in the hands of non-RPers who only bought them to garden.

I didn't start this game with roleplaying in mind but I made some friends on Brynhildr that were into it and we made a group and I've been trying to promote our little community as much as possible. Really, if we don't get an official server, or even if we do, a forum for roleplaying would be nice, all about telling stories, promoting different server communities in one place (I keep looking at server forums looking for a possible location to get more characters made if I find I just need to make some new characters to play and there are main threads looking for end game and then a couple on like Balmung only about roleplay) and we can see the kind of stories different groups are telling and it'll be an official place to promote roleplay and have it be officially sanctioned by the powers that be.
