I really hope the community team are relaying the general response towards this expansion's pricing structure back to SE?

I don't think I've ever seen an mmo expansion that is so blatantly abusive towards it's customer base (And I've been playing these things since UO). For a community that is usually (And rightfully) positive towards SE and Yoshida's much appreciated efforts in turning this game around, the amount of anger over this release really should have you guys taking notes and paying attention.

Thanks for letting me know I have to fork over nearly $300-500 (depending on deals) each expansion for the wife and I (PC/PS4/OSX). Good to know all those meetings with Blizzard taught the business departments nothing.

I could always wait 1 year for it to be discounted I guess or I guess it's time we don't use different platforms since clearly SE is doing it wrong.

I understand PC/PS4... but requiring payment for OSX when all SE did was get some company to use their improved wine wrapper rather than really go native... I don't get that.

unless you live in certain areas, i have no idea how it would even be possible to get that high in what you are spending. assuming you both get a CE, thats 130x2, so 260. from there, 40x2, because thats all that is needed at that point, and thats the only way to get close to your price. regardless, why you need it on three different platforms is beyond me.

59.99x2 ~ 2x Digital CE (PS4). We can now play only on PS4 for those areas.
39.99x2 ~ 2x Digital Standard (PC). We can now play on PC/PS4.
59.99x2 ~ 2x Bundle (OSX). We can now use any platform.

Then there's the exchange rate. Visa currency exchange fee. Canadian Taxes.

$474.72 (roughly)

Why I "want" it is because of ease of use and not having to boot into bootcamp all the damn time and I assumed it would have been free. That said we are going to re-evaluate how/if we can play and which platform to choose but that's just ridiculous.

Look at it like this. Say you bought a record on vinyl. do that mean the record company owes you a 8 track, cassette, CD and digital download of the same record.

Feel privileged (the mac users not rankina) they didn't price it at Apple prices you guys are use too. unless you want to pay $300 for the client to feel hip.

It's not really a concern over pc/ps4. I get it. Sony is screwing everyone around and SE doesn't want to play dirty like they did in XI and allow someone to upgrade an expansion without having to buy it on both platforms.

The bigger issue is they want 59.99 for a bloody mac emulator. Blizzard doesn't do this at all and if you buy a game on PC you can play it on OSX.

it isn't an emulator, it's a library wrapper(think Java or GTK+) built off of wine, simply put it lets the game see its native platform information while translating to the native OS. seems like what an emulator does but it isn't. it will perform a lot faster than an emulator could. it might even perform as fast as native windows depending on how well they tweaked it.
I still think this is lazy of them but it isn't an emulator

Yeah I've developed with it before. It comes "close" but each game is different. I will not however spend $60 to find out and probably stick with bootcamp. Brining me back to 4 copies of expansion vs 6...

you might be able to get the game working with wine, I know wine works with the macos. dunno how much trouble you need to go through to get wine working though.
