3.0 Launch - Server Planning

Recently we had Gold Saucer and the servers being overwhelmed.

Now we have the order website overwhelmed.

Next is 3.0...and does anyone else feel we'll struggle to log in and the servers will struggle to stay up reserve instances?

I can somewhat forgive Gold Saucer - they had no idea how many people who re-log back in, especially with free weekends. I can somewhat forgive the website, even bigger companies have been taken down by pre-orders/ticket sales. What will be hard to give is the 3.0 launch struggling. Why? Because not only did they recently announce the accounts (4 million was it?) but they will also have the pre-order sales figures giving them a pretty good indication of how many people will be trying to play starting June 19th.

With the cost of the digital CE (how much is that mount costing?), the crazier physical CE cost, the full-priced-game expansion cost, the monthly fees and the amount of people using the item store, I hope that money will go in to benefiting the players who, once again, are showing their support - basically buy more servers, even if after 1 month the active users die down. Invest in the players.

tl;dr: I hope 3.0 will allow us to play considering the number of players and money involved but it's disconcerting to see the store down and the recent Gold Saucer server full problems.

I got a picture of SE data centers when Heavensward launches and what SE will be saying on the forums.

but i do agree that they should add new severs when it launches and i hope real eu servers you know in the eu..... do i think it will happen nope.

So many people planning to take the 19th off work, I can already see the rage on the forums as the servers are down for most of the day or at the very least completely unplayable.

It's a virtual guarantee that the servers will struggle mightily 06/19 and 06/23. I probably won't bother with XIV at all on either date. And I'd never request off to play a video game. Not judging anyone who does, but I don't feel the need to.

Hehe. Good thing I'm not planning on taking the 19th off. The week after though all booked up for vacation hehe. Thus I avoid most of the early access maintenaces and other derpage and then get to enjoy it once it stabilizes.

For me that week is just lucky since I try to grab a few days in that week off each year(like most others) since there's also a national holiday. It's alos usually one of the last 2 weeks in the year that people still have that they can burn their old vacation time from last year.

They're not going to buy more servers for the launch rush when after a few weeks they'll be in a corner collecting dust.

I doubt we'll see as much issues with Heavensward as we did with the ARR launch.

I've only played WoW when it came to expansion releases, but they've handled it quite well since catacylsm (very seamless and no server load/lag). I can only hope that SE can do the same with Heavensward.

doesnt matter what MMO you play. Expansion days are always a mess and overloaded.

I'll probably lie low for the first day of EA. I'll likely still have a ton to do on Hyrule Warriors if the servers are scuffling.
