Heavensward and Steam

Hello! I am a PC player and I bought FFXIV through STEAM.

After a series of issues (won't go into details) I downloaded the regular client and I just play with it, without using the Steam interface anymore (I can still pay through it tho).

Since I wanted to buy the Collector Edition and get me all the props and stuff, then I read this:

Please note that users that play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn on Steam will need to purchase the Steam version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward.

Does this mean my 100+€ copy of Heavensward won't work on my Steam-purchased version of FFXIV?

Please let me know, I don't want to have to buy Heavensward twice.

From what I understand, that is correct. I guess Steam bought copies of the game have a unique code formula that Heavensward copies from anywhere but Steam aren't made to work with.

Hopefully you can get a refund :/

Yes, we are currently working with Valve to launch pre-orders for the Steam version of Heavensward (standard and digital Collector's Edition) that would include the pre-order bonuses.
