My apoligies. It is 280.26. I accidentally read off the NVidia ControlPanel version. The driver version is 280.26. And after the update, no major change except instead of FFXIV noticing the error and shutting down, windows admits the driver is failing and shuts Final Fantasy down for me.

No way to fix this atm, we're all hoping SE gets on this soon and fixes this issue. i feel this is one of the biggest issues holding this game back. SE has left us with 2 options...

1.) Run fullscreen and suffer this crash whenever ffxiv loses focus for any reason. On most systems it's common for other apps to breifly take focus, things like OSD's, windows messanger, windows update notifications, AV notifications and many more.

2.) Run in windowed mode, good thing is pretty much all that will crash ffxiv in this mode is hitting ctr+alt+del (win7 & vista). however this is far from ideal, because of the way directx handles multi-gpu system ATI xfire will not work in this mode and Nvidia SLI can work but it's far from optimal. also vsync will not work in windowed on multi-gpu or single-gpu systems.

To sum up we have a choice constant crashes or poor performance, we can disable everything on our systems that would cause fullscreen mode to lose focus but why should we have to?

This issue has been going on for way too long, and your not the first to complain, i just hope SE acutally does somthing about this and soon.
