I don't think we'll get a response beyond that tweet advising us the price was indeed correct.

I would love to hear the reasoning behind the pricing.
The most we've got for a direct response to the reason of the pricing is from SE_Kahuna on Reddit which was simply "We can't tell you."
Good job.

Has anybody considered that the pound isn't worth the paper its printed on and the price needs to be put up in order for SE to make the same profit?
No?

Then why wouldn't this be the same for all products they sell. This has been shown in this thread multiple times with current products, type-0 for instance.

Fair point, but it's not like this doesn't happen with other products. Take the PS4 - launch price in USD $399, launch price in GBP £349. That works out to over $500. Just one example in many. I'm not an expert in economics or anything but I'm sure there must be some reason as to why the UK tends to have such a price disparity. Either way, I think suggesting people write to crimewatch/trading standards/whatever is blowing this whole thing out of proportion. If you don't want to pay £130 for it then vote with your wallets.
Actually its the other way round, the pound is very strong and so they have hiked up the price to rinse it for all its worth,
£100 will buy you close to $150 at the moment,
The answers we are getting is "we cant tell you" which means they know exactly whats going on............

Maybe I'm missing something - how does that mean he's lying to us? Does he work in SE's finance/marketing department or is he just customer service? If the latter then he wouldn't know any reasoning behind the pricing structure.Quote with context for those who are interested: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...qsct?context=3
At least he acknowledges that SE seems to have a piss poor record of good communication with customers. Just look at the London Fan Fest website - it's still linked on the EU Lodestone, and the mini site even has "check back soon for more info!" messages for an event that was held 5 months ago...
