Nope taxes shouldn't be that ridiculous, there are many other companies which have done CE things which are closer in price to what everyone else gets, why does SE get to be different with this?
Your comment makes me laugh, Do YOU know how much tax they pay? Do YOU know the shipping costs they incur?
Its simple -- dont like the price? Dont buy it. Period...
If only it was simple as that, some people really wanted to get the collectors edition but apparently we have to pay extra for no good reason while other countries actually get reasonable price for it.
"Don't like the price? Don't buy it" is a fools argument in this case.
Also why did you bold the first few words in my quote? ah its because I gave an unsure argument, Taxes AREN'T that ridiculous.
If that would be the case, then they would pay way more for other games too. But they don't.
Wrong. With our tax added on, we would be expected to pay around £105 from the Euro/Dollar price of the game. If you're then saying we're paying £25 per unit extra for shipping into the U.K. for SE EU to then distribute the copies that's ridiculous. Why should we be paying almost 50% more than any other region just because we have a strong currency? Simple answer, we shouldn't. Imagine the outrage and instant-fix if you were paying $185 for your expansion pack, and we were paying £130, but wait. That would be fair.
Edit: Also to mention that every other item in their Square Enix Store is calculated properly with the exchange rate. We pay the correct amount on all other goods on SE Store, except the Physical FFXIV CE? What does that tell you. They do it because they can get away with it. People who are saying "Vote with your wallets". I'm afraid that's a moot point, unless you're happy in mind that you personally didn't obtain a Physical CE and you have the higher morales. I don't want to pay the £130, but I will pay the £130, I want the Physical CE, and if I don't buy it, someone else will just buy my copy. That's the sad part of it, being a personal 1 man army against this kind of thing won't make a bit of difference, and we can only make our voices and complaints heard.

Please stop, these comments are so misinformed its unreal. SE is NOT keeping the price at £129 for simple taxation/shipping purposes.
If people think SE is using cost orientated pricing on the physical edition then honestly I'm just going to leave you to it and let you dream about SE holding you at night.
Ignoring shipping costs for the time being because they are irrelevant because we don't know the quantities involved, as far as tax goes it is charged VAT at the standard rate on entry to the country from outside of the EU, on the retail price of $129.99 which is roughly £88 at current exchange rate values the tax charged would equal around £17, bringing the total to just over £100, there is a disturbing excess of £30 that cannot be accounted for through taxation, this is al also calculated using retail values and not the trade values SE would import them under.
Do you know how much tax they pay? The shipping costs they incur? Your answer is most definitely no, because you admit to imagining it. >_>
the store is up as they said and no heavenward as they said :\
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
