This is the first publisher I've actually seen do this for a year+. Plenty used to do it a few years ago and then people got really angry with it and every one stopped. As previously mentionned this is a fan account and not as official statement.
However what they said isn't wrong. It is fairly common now for publishers to only change the currency sign (and invoque more or less dubious reasons to do so) from dollars to euros to pounds... And keep the CE for themselves to avoid concurrency with a fair(ish) price.
Anyways I don't think the price will change unfortunately. So instead of pressing them to change it maybe we should try to ask when and where will the CE be available outside of SE's store? Their post said "for now", so we have reasons to believe maybe Amazon will have some CE in pre-orders within a few days' time.

I play a lot of JRPGs and VNs and EVERY SINGLE collector's sold by NISA Europe has the "lazy currency disease": Neptunia, Atelier, Danganronpa, Fairy Fencer F, and I can't list all of them. I stopped buying collector's for my favourite games because the prices in the UK (and let's be honest, euro-zone too) aren't fair. I though Heavensward would be different (didn't have much problem with SE prices in the past) but if they start doing it too I'll pass on the CE.
I don't mind spending lots of money, I'd gladly pay £500 if they make it worth it but enough is enough with screwing over EU/UK buyers.
the ARR physical CE was £41.99 for me through a third party retailer (GAME) at preorder. Was expectng roughly £90 for this one as it had the figure in it. not a blanket cost.I play a lot of JRPGs and VNs and EVERY SINGLE collector's sold by NISA Europe has the "lazy currency disease": Neptunia, Atelier, Danganronpa, Fairy Fencer F, and I can't list all of them. Thing is, they're NOT screwing over the EU buyers - just the UK. It's almost £40 CHEAPER in Euro than in Pounds Sterling. It's only the fans in the UK that are getting shafted. I've bought CE of FF PC games since FFVII (with the mousemat)... this will probably be the first I can't buy.I play a lot of JRPGs and VNs and EVERY SINGLE collector's sold by NISA Europe has the "lazy currency disease": Neptunia, Atelier, Danganronpa, Fairy Fencer F, and I can't list all of them. Is there any update on when pre-orders will be available for people with the Steam version? Will we get early access also?

Well SE maybe not, but I can assure you that NISA is screwing Euro conversions almost as much as Pounds. I wasn't based in the UK when they started doing so I didn't pay much attention to UK prices at the time, but now I'm looking out for both and I'm twice as pissed >__>Thing is, they're NOT screwing over the EU buyers - just the UK. Let's stop discuss NISA though, it's not the place. The price in Euros is still ok as far as Square Enix and Heavensward are concerned, but the UK pricing is insane. Let's see what happens when the store re-opens, I don't have much hope they'll fix it for UK buyers but we can only officially complain from there.

The issue is this gives them ammunition next time not to release the CE because they can just turn around with the excuse well the CE sold poorly in the UK last time,, hmmm I wonder why.Well SE maybe not, but I can assure you that NISA is screwing Euro conversions almost as much as Pounds. although I have no doubt the CE will sell out, there are plenty of stupid people around.
I'd say they're screwing us both over, though UK players twice. If I convert them all to my local currency:Thing is, they're NOT screwing over the EU buyers - just the UK. $130 = 953 sek
€130 = 1203 sek
£130 = 1528 sek
So Euro prices are about 300sek more expensive. About a third. GBP price is 300sek above that, i.e. two thirds of the NA price.
Edit: Ignore those, my converter was out of date. Current conversions would be:
$129.99 = 1168 sek
€129.99 = 1228 sek
£129.99 = 1724 sek
[/end edit]
Me and my flatmate were looking to get one physical, one digital, but unless they fix this I guess we'll just screw the statue and art book and both go for digital. ¬_¬
(Was it only me, btw, who was amused by the fact that the live letter screenshots had "NA $"? Doesn't Canada use their own dollars, with a different conversion rate? Last I looked, they also counted as NA.)

Yes. Yes we do, thank you for noticing lol
Sadly, large corporations don't give a damn.
