New Jobs Starting Level Discussion

Hello, I'd like to give my thoughts of the level that the 3 new jobs (Dark Knight, Astrologian, & Machinist) would start at. I would honestly say after thinking about it, it would have to be lv15.

Why you say? Because duty finder unlocks at lv15. If they started at lv30 and wanted to do older content they wouldn't be able to because their skills would be locked due to not being at the of maximum lev set for the instance.

Unless they were to rework some things for these 3 new jobs but I highly doubt it. What are your thoughts and opinions on the matter?

i highly doubt ast drk and mch are going to start at a level higher than 1 without the appropriate number of actions for that level

Yea Yoshi-P did say they aren't starting at lv1 but I know we are still waiting for more information cause this is the first time they are doing this without a base class.

There's a lot of conflicting information about this among various interviews. Some have said they're not starting at level 1 - some have said they are.

Personally, I would not mind a handful of levels getting cut out early, because the early levels are just a really boring pain to me... but at the same time I think the last thing anyone wants is to run into a level 30 fresh Dark Knight in Haukke Manor who has literally no idea still what enmity generation is and how they should be playing their class to tank or what even a tank does.

Considering that DRK is likely going to require PLD and/or WAR at a level that, I will assume for now, will be 30+ someone leveling getting this job should already have some idea about the DRK equivalent of their tank skills are and how tanks work.
Anyone who has PLD or WAR at 30 and doesn't know this are going to be F.A.T.E leveled and then, what would be the difference between meeting them as DRK or WAR or PLD?

I am guessing the level is going to be 30 MAYBE 40 (I doubt it though). The only reason I say 40 is because that is when PLD gets Shield Oath and if PLD is a requirement for DRK they may want to require that level of PLD so the player has more knowledge/experience with skills such as Shield Oath. Either way, I would put my money on 30 with the limited info we have right now.

Were I a betting man I'd say 30 safely. However what needs to be realized is that all of that is subject to change. Yoshida could have an epiphany today and say okay guys you are starting at 40. Or he could say 20 for all we know. Fact remains until he actually reveals the information it is still being thought of and he is baiting us. Most likely he has the com reps feed info to him and dev team based on what he revealed and they'll make the decision from there. Just my two gil...

I doubt they would be locked out like that. They could easily work similar to Scholar which has job specific (pet) actions available before level 30.

Would prefer it if the jobs started at level 1 personally. I just like that feeling of leveling from a weakling to a proud warrior.

This would be the case if the new jobs only had 5 actions all together, which were what we currently call Job actions. Whilst they won't have a base class, they'll still have the same number of actions as other classes/jobs that range from level 1 to 60. It would be as if Gladiator or Lancer never existed as classes and instead it was just Paladin and Dragoon from level 1, and then you gained special/extra skills from Lv30. For all intents outside of those extra skills, a Paladin is a Gladiator and a Dragoon is a Lancer.

I don't see a point in giving special levelling priority to the new jobs. For me, half the fun in it was levelling up my character from level 1, so that each new skill learned was something new and unique to play with. Getting it all at once is a bit like paying someone else to play the game for you.

Still, soon I'll have my hands full capping each and every one of my jobs to level 60. I'm sure I'll get around to levelling Astrologian sometime after all that.
